The Little Fuzzies think a summer barbecue sounds like tons of fun! But once again, they are a little confused about the hot dog buns and cheese puffs. Students will laugh as they learn how the Fuzzies use these typical summer foods in creative and ridiculous ways!
Barbecue Blunder helps students learn one of the difference between major and minor and also help them play a chromatic scale with the correct fingering!
What Level is Barbecue Blunder?
Barbecue Blunder is an elementary piano solo that is part of the Adventures of Little Fuzzies series. It is written in C Major, but clearly has a line in C minor which will help students immediately see the difference between the two. The smallest note value in the piece is the quarter note except for the little motive at the end that any student of the Little Fuzzies will be familiar with (it’s in the original Fuzzies piece and everyone knows the rhythm because it’s so familiar). There is no pedaling.
Fingering is indicated throughout and there is a perfect opportunity to introduce students to part of the fingering for the chromatic scale multiple times in the piece. There is a first and second ending in the piece. Articulations are clearly notated and students will be able to practice staccato, legato, and accents in Barbecue Blunder.
Bonus Mp3 and QR Code for students
Barbecue Blunder includes a bonus mp3 of this performance with your purchase. You may send this mp3 to your student to help them learn the piece and remember how it sounds.
Plus, a QR code is included on the first page of the PDF (not pictured in the sample) so students can scan the code and it will take them directly to the performance recording of the piece. This can help them be inspired and learn the piece even more effectively without you having to send the mp3 to them!

You know you have a Little Fuzzy addiction when you don’t even finish reading the email before purchasing the song! But it’s always worth it because I have MANY, MANY Fuzzy “fans” in my studio! By the end of the same day I a student who was starting on it. This one is HILARIOUS – love the humor the Fuzzies bring. When asking one elementary student what his next goal was, he replied: “to learn 50 Fuzzy songs!” I replied that we had to wait for the composer to write that many, so he will be thrilled that a new one has arrived!!

I just love the Fuzzies series! It’s well-suited for early to mid-elementary students, but each one has a difficult concept or two for the student to be introduced to. Barbecue Blunder has some chromatic work,, articulation and endings that are simple enough to not overwhelm the student. I look forward to the next Fuzzies adventure!

I have a 7 year old student who is a Little Fuzzies fan and is delighted with their many adventures. Not only does he sing the words as he plays –smiling the whole time — in this piece he has learned first and second endings, how to play a chromatic scale and the difference between a major and minor sound. This piece is great for the summer or anytime your students wish to use their imaginations as they play a piece of music.

We are Fuzzy Fanatics! Just love the fuzzy songs, and my young students think this is perhaps the best one yet! I love the chance to talk about major and minor as well as half steps and moving chromatically in a very approachable way. Plus the lyrics are hilarious!

My 6 year old student absolutely loves this and now wants more of the Little Fuzzies music. She likes it so much she has decided to be a Little Fuzzy for Halloween! What a fun way to keep the little ones motivated and still growing musically!

Love these fuzzies! Teaching students interval relationships is easy to do when they enjoy the music they play. Students who also enjoy singing, love the lyrics. They want to read the lyrics first! Students look forward to the next fuzzies creation.
