• Busted Broom – EE: What happens when your magic broom gets busted and can’t fly you around the room the way YOU want it to? This solo was the result of some serious brainstorming about music stories that didn’t yet exist in the world of piano pedagogy!

• Apple Quest – E: The Little Fuzzies get super excited about picking apples in autumn, but forget to factor in the change in weather at night! Find out what happens to them (and their precious hair) in this fun piece with three distinct moods.
  
  Wendy wanted to find an autumnal subject not written about yet in piano pedagogy music. Apple picking came up as a clear answer since Wendy loves apples so much. (You can ask her what her favorite apples are but get ready! Because she’ll probably go into a 15 minute animated monologue about them!)

• Fuzzy Migration – E: The Little Fuzzies have decided that winter is much to unpleasant, so they want to go south. But getting there is entirely another matter! Find out all the thing they try in this crazy adventure.

• Wickedly Allergic – E: Even if students don’t have autumn or spring allergies, the amazing artwork is enough to inspire them to learn this piece. And it’s not just seasonal allergies! What about that perfume that grandma wore that makes you sneeze? Or what about the crazy itchy skin you get when you wear clothes with flowery fabric softener? It’s a real problem for kids everywhere and the composer is no exception!

• Autumn Retreat – LE to EI: Wouldn’t we all love to travel to a comfy cottage in the fall, surrounded by trees that are stunningly beautiful with their changing colors? The music is crisp like the cool jacket weather we experience in the fall. And Wendy’s use of many first inversion chords adds to the hopeful nature of this expressive solo.

• Leave It Raw – EI to I: The story behind this piece is too personal for a blog post, but Wendy shared about it at the webinar. Sometimes you go through something very difficult, but friends and family just want to “paint it pretty” or remind you of how much there is for which to be grateful. But that’s not what you need when you are going through challenging circumstances. We need someone to sit with us through the pain. Someone that can hear our story and let us “leave it raw” without having to fix it.
  
  This piece is written not only for those who are going through difficult circumstances that no one understands, but also for teenagers who frequently go through things that adults no longer understand. This is what we long to tell everyone about how to sit with us through the pain.

We created separate spine inserts for “autumn” and “Halloween” because we know there are many reasons why you might not want them together.
