For an easier-to-use experience, we’d recommend checking out the newer Rhythm Manipulations® Streaming Tracks instead! You’ll love how easy it is to use, how affordable it is, and how you can use it on all your devices!
We want and need to get music and rhythm IN our students’ bodies! But it’s hard to do that with just clapping or tapping or body movements. Plus, it’s hard for students to know whether they are playing the right rhythm when they are practicing at home.
So the Rhythm Manipulations® accompaniment tracks add that missing musical element to the already musical rhythms in Rhythm Manipulations®. Sure, you can practice Manipulations rhythms with the metronome or any drum track or beat. But the accompaniment tracks help students to experience music with other musicians in a more collaborative music making experience!
Rhythm Manipulations® Accompaniment Tracks are not just beats and riffs!
The Rhythm Manipulations® Accompaniment Tracks aren’t just beats and riffs that are repeated. These are 750 original music tracks created by 2 wonderful musicians at IMMusic that go beautifully with the rhythms in Rhythm Manipulations®. They were carefully composed to highlight the musicality of the rhythms on the page. Plus, these were especially designed to be appealing to pre-teens, teens, and all ages of students. There are 12 accompaniment tracks per page (3 tempos for each line of rhythm) and each page features a different style of original music.
Samples of Rhythm Manipulations® Accompaniment Tracks
Single Line Rhythms:
These tracks are all the medium speed (remember there are 3 tempos. The slow and medium tempos include the clapping which you will hear):
2-handed Rhythms:
The last sample is from the polyrhythm unit!
The Rhythm Maneuvers Pages:
Our Rhythm Maneuvers pages features activities that are appealing to all ages, including teens and adults. Plus, we’ve also included some suggestions for alternative activities if students need to be socially distant.
This one has a spinning feature in it:
This one has a “switch” feature where students or student/teacher taps in each other’s hands (or taps on each’s backs for social distancing):
3 different tempos for every line!
We include 3 different tempos for every line. The slow tempo is very slow. The fast tempo is intended to be challenging as teenage students really love challenges. The goal is for the student to play accurately with whichever tempo that fits their abilities. Here’s an example of the 3 tempos:
With which edition of Rhythm Manipulations® do the tracks work?
The accompaniment tracks work with the 2nd/revised edition of Rhythm Manipulations® (the only one we sell now). If you purchased an old edition before August 18, 2020, just log into your account and download the new edition! There are track numbers next to every line so that you know what tracks go with what lines.
Can I use it to teach myself rhythm?
Yes! Because of the versatile tracks, you can now use Rhythm Manipulations® with these accompaniment tracks to learn rhythm on your own. This is because the first 2 tracks of each line (there are 3 tracks per line) include the clapping (or right hand/left hand tapping) of the notated rhythm in the Rhythm Manipulations® book. So, you can check yourself to see if you are performing the rhythm accurately in those first two lines. Then, you can have fun making music with the 3rd track without the clapping.
This is especially helpful when learning some of the tougher rhythms like in the polyrhythm unit.
Is this only for teens?
Goodness, no! While we put a lot of effort into making this appeal to pre-teens, teens, and adults, any age of student will enjoy learning with Rhythm Manipulations® and the Rhythm Manipulations® accompaniment tracks.
How are Rhythm Manipulations® Accompaniment Tracks organized and delivered?
We have carefully organized the Rhythm Manipulations® Accompaniment tracks into 7 folders. Each track is carefully labeled and the proper meta data has been assigned to them so that you can easily move them into an iTunes playlist or your favorite music player. But if that’s too complicated, all you have to do is double click any of the mp3 files (and each says exactly what line and unit it’s from) and it will play on whatever your default music player is.
The tracks are delivered to you in seven zip folders. All you need to do is double click the zip folder and a folder by the same name will be extracted. Then either move your files or double click them to play!
Can I Share Rhythm Manipulations® Accompaniment Tracks With Students?
No. Your license only permits you to use these yourself with your students. But you may not share them with students. Students or their parents may purchase these separately if they wish to use them at home.

Veda –
I have consistently been using Menagerie and Manipulations in lessons with tracks (in person) and it’s the best resource out there for teaching rhythms. I just wish I had purchased it much earlier. Talk about lightening the load. The tracks are a must have and make it so much fun. So glad I invested in them!!
