Rhythm Manipulations® is the 2nd book in the core rhythm curriculum (coming after Rhythm Menagerie®) that helps students master rhythm and get rhythm IN their body in a systematic, but fun way. This 2nd book is designed to appeal to older students including pre-teens, teens, and even adults. This rhythm curriculum is carefully sequenced so that your students can master rhythm concepts at a pace that helps students get the rhythms in their body.

When students practice with Rhythm Manipulations® with the Rhythm Manipulations® streaming tracks, the rhythm becomes more of a part of their body. Plus, these tracks are exceptionally fun and making rhythm practice quite enjoyable.

Each unit in Rhythm Manipulations® contains:

• 1 introductory page explaining and experimenting with the concept
• 3 one line rhythm pages (progressing carefully in order of difficulty)
• 3 two-handed rhythm pages (helping with coordination)

Can I print or email the PDF book for students?

Yes, the Rhythm Manipulations® Streaming Tracks Bundle comes with a studio license which permits you to use and print or email the PDF book for any student you directly teach. So it’s like getting an unlimited supply of this book for a very low price!

The streaming tracks cannot be shared (nor can they be downloaded with the subscription), but students can also purchase their own subscription to the streaming tracks here.

The Rhythm Manipulations® Streaming Tracks aren’t just beats and riffs that are repeated. These are 750 original music tracks created by 2 wonderful musicians at IMMusic that go beautifully with the rhythms in Rhythm Manipulations®. There are 12 accompaniment tracks per page (9 for a few pages in the last polyrhythm unit) and each page features a different style of original music.

How does the Streaming Tracks subscription work?

• After payment, you get web access to 750 tracks organized on secure pages. This means that you can log in to ComposeCreate.com from any device (computer, ipad, iphone, smartphone) and play any of the tracks from all 7 units of Rhythm Manipulations®.
• The tracks are hosted on our super fast web server.
• They are organized by unit and page (see screenshots at top of page).
• To access quickly, simply go to your Account page and click on Memberships.
• You will only pay for the Rhythm Manipulations® book 1 time. Then, payment for the streaming tracks subscription will recur automatically every month.

Tell me more about the Rhythm Manipulations® tracks.

• The 750 tracks contain 3 tempos for every line.
• Each line of music has 3 streaming tracks – slow, medium, and fast.
• The notated rhythm in the Manipulations book is clapped (or tapped with a high/low woodblock for the 2 handed pages) for the first 2 tracks of every line. This allow students to see if they are accurate.
• The notated rhythm is left out on the 3rd track for every line. This allows the teacher to check so see if the student really knows the rhythm.
• All kinds of styles of music. There’s a different style for every page. You’ll find everything from calypso to fiddling tunes to classical and disco styles.

3 different tempos for every line!

We include 3 different tempos for every line. The slow tempo is very slow. The fast tempo is intended to be challenging as teenage students really love challenges. The goal is for the student to play accurately with whichever tempo that fits their abilities. Here’s an example of the 3 tempos:

Can I use this to teach myself rhythm?

Yes! Because of the versatile tracks, you can now use Rhythm Manipulations® with these accompaniment tracks to learn rhythm on your own. This is because the first 2 tracks of each line (there are 3 tracks per line) include the clapping (or right hand/left hand tapping) of the notated rhythm in the Rhythm Manipulations® book. So, you can check yourself to see if you are performing the rhythm accurately in those first two lines. Then, you can have fun making music with the 3rd track without the clapping.

This is especially helpful when learning some of the tougher rhythms like in the polyrhythm unit.

Is this only for older students?

Definitely not! The Rhythm Manipulations® Streaming Tracks Bundle is appealing to all ages, including and especially pre-teens and teenage students.

Will I be able to download the tracks?

While the PDF rhythm book is downloadable, the tracks are not. This subscription to the tracks  gives you web access to the tracks, but they are secure and cannot be downloaded. If you wish to purchase the Rhythm Manipulations® tracks outright so that you can have the mp3 files in your possession and play them on media players of your choice, then you can purchase the tracks as downloads here.

What if I have already purchased the tracks as a download?

You will still have access to all of those previously purchased tracks and can use them with your favorite media players. However, this subscription is a separate purchase as we meticulously groom and maintain it to give you an easy and organized way of accessing these tracks from a central location.

  The difference between the North American (uses terms like “eighth, sixteenth, etc.”)and International edition (uses terms like “quaver, semiquaver”) have to do with what kind of rhythm terms you use.
