Listen to Samples of the NEW Rhythm Cup Explorations® 1 Accompaniment Tracks:
The Rhythm Cup Explorations® 1 tracks were updated on August 29, 2023 and how have wonderful features including:
- Two measures of preparatory beat
- Beautiful music, not just beats
- Lots of musical styles
- Improved tempos (from the previous “beats”)
- Composed with fantastic melodies, shapes and climaxes
- Most tracks have the cup-tapping rhythm in one of the voices!
- Difficult cup-tapping rhythms are highlighted in the music (like the hemiola)
Here are samples:
Here’s the same track as the last one, only the slow version. This particular track is for a page that is designed to help them accurately cup tap a rhythm of triplets followed by eighths:
Can I use this to teach myself rhythm?
Rhythm Cup Explorations® is designed to be a supplement to our core rhythm curriculum, Rhythm Menagerie®. While Rhythm Menagerie® can indeed help you learn rhythm on your own, this Rhythm Cup Explorations® resource is not designed to do that since the notated rhythms cannot be heard in the tracks.
To learn rhythm on your own, please check out Rhythm Menagerie® and Rhythm Manipulations®.
Will I be able to download these?
No. This subscription gives you web access to the tracks, but they are secured and cannot be downloaded. If you wish to purchase the Rhythm Cup Explorations® 1 tracks outright so that you can have the mp3 files in your possession and play them on media players of your choice, then you can purchase the tracks as downloads here.
What if I have already purchased the old tracks as a download?
You will still have access to all of those previously purchased tracks and can use them with your favorite media players. However, this subscription is a separate purchase as it gives you an easy way of accessing these tracks from a central location.

I used the streaming tracks for the first time yesterday and it was AWESOME!! So easy and my students LOVED it! We clapped and counted once without the music, then we did with the music and her eyes lit up! She loved the challenge of going faster and faster and was successful – smiling all the while! 🙂

I have been using the new rhythm tracks for Rhythm Cups Explorations Books 1 and 2 for the past few weeks with my students and we have really enjoyed them! It’s very helpful to have the actual rhythm “embedded” in the accompaniment track. The 2 measures of count in are super helpful. Also, I have enjoyed being able to use the tracks online. Great job on these, Wendy!

These are so fun!! Loving the updated, sophisticated sounds. My students always loved doing rhythm cups, but now the process is even more exciting. Also: LOVE the new two measures of intro beats!

I have the old versions of these, and decided to do the free trial of the new sounds. (My whole studio is doing rhythm cups in conjunction with the new rhythm achievement cards.). These are fantastic! I love how the tapping rhythms are reinforced by the orchestra, the 2 measures of intro, and even the extra seconds I have from pressing play to getting to my seat with my cup in hand. Very well done!
