Everyone’s favorite little piano helpers are back – and this time they’re ready to try trick or treating! But the poor Little Fuzzies are at a distinct disadvantage when it comes to this fun Halloween tradition…they have no hands or legs, after all!
Students will love singing the silly words that tell the story of how these rascals have figured out how to ring the doorbell; and in true Little Fuzzies fashion, now they won’t stop! This Little Fuzzies series is a teacher and student favorite, and a special improv section will keep students engaged in this piece long after Halloween has passed!
What Level is Little Fuzzies Trick or Treat?
Little Fuzzies Trick or Treat is an elementary level piece written in a minor with various sharps and flats. The B section is a whole tone scale that continues moving up multiple registers – this happens while the Little Fuzzies jump on top of one another so they can finally reach the doorbell, and creates the perfect opportunity to talk with students about how music can communicate ideas or stories! After the whole tone scale, there is an improv section where the student has the Little Fuzzies ring the doorbell as many times as they want.
The smallest note value is a quarter note, and there is no pedaling. Helpful fingerings are included, and all hand position changes are indicated with a circled number so that students know whether to change just the finger number or the entire hand position.
How Can I Use Little Fuzzies to Enhance my Teaching?
You can use Little Fuzzies any time of year, not just Halloween! These small little fuzzy craft balls with google eyes are amazing at helping students find their starting note, be their audience, and remind them where to move!

These fuzzies are such a hit with my 3rd grade student especially. They seem to bring out all her creative energy as she even made a costume for a yellow fuzzy turning it into the sun. I love the way these pieces draw students into reading sharps and flats effortlessly.
