I’m sure you’ve seen other bloggers talking about this: an online conference coming February 5-8, 2014, just for piano teachers! I’m excited that someone is taking the initiative and doing all the work to bring excellent sessions on piano pedagogy, especially to those who can’t make it to a conference or for others who just don’t want to leave the comfort of their home! Perhaps this will be a good way for moms with young children to attend a motivating conference without having to find and pay a babysitter (that’s where I’m at these days).
The theme this year is Make Your Students Shine! Here is what they have to say about the conference:
MusicEdConnect.com is excited to announce the presentations for the 2014 on-line conference! They have a fantastic line up of nationally-known presenters with awesome ideas to share. You won’t want to miss this!
Join MusicEdConnect for live sessions, networking and exhibit hall February 5-8, 2014 or on-line for on-demand session videos, networking and exhibit hall any time after that date.
With an impressive lineup of nationally known presenters, you will learn from the best in the business without leaving your home or studio, or join on your mobile device from wherever you are in the world!
1. Hear from many amazing presenters and be re-inspired, motivated, and learn new tips and techniques to make your students shine! View sessions here.
2.  Network with other teachers, both private and schools to gain new ideas from others and build friendships that last a lifetime. Visit the exhibit hall and learn about new products and services and conference promotions.
3.  All sessions will also be available on-demand after the live conference dates so you can re-watch a session or view a session you missed. While there is a time for each live session, you do NOT have to watch it on that date. All presentations will be available on-line until February 1, 2015.
*MusicEdConnect.com is a division of Keys to Imagination LLC.
You can register for the conference and see all the speakers at MusicEdConnect. Some of the names of the speakers with whom you are familiar include: Elizabeth Guiterrez, Joy Morin, Scott McBride Smith, Leila Viss, and more. See topics and other details on their website.
The organizers of the MusicEdConnect Conference are offering one ComposeCreate® subscriber a chance to win a free conference registration. All you have to do is leave a comment by Friday and I’ll draw a random name on Saturday. Be sure you sign up for the ComposeCreate® newsletter where I’ll be posting the winning name!

What a wonderful idea! It’s so hard to get to out of town conferences and to “keep up the home front”. I’m looking forward to it (and hope to also be lucky!)
Sounds interesting. How does the “exhibit hall” work? How does interaction between teachers happen? I’ve never attended an on-line conference and am curious how it all works!
Sounds great! I don’t have to leave town.
Hi Deborah and others – Wendy asked me to respond to your question on how this conference will work.
I know this is a new concept and we are super excited about how this will work! It is amazing how the world of technology is bringing us together!
All attendees will log on to the live conference using a link provided to them after registration, which allows everyone to attend the sessions live and ask questions. The presenters will be sharing their webcam, PowerPoint/Keynote presentations, videos, their desktop or program on their computer and a whiteboard. If you can’t attend a session at the time it is taking place, all sessions will be recorded and put on the MusicEdConnect.com site for future reference for one year. Attendees will receive a user name and password for the site in order to view these videos. So, if you happen to have one lesson those days you just can’t seem to re-schedule, or you happen to be taking a winter vacation, you can watch the sessions later.
The exhibit hall will be on the MusicEdConnect.com site. Some exhibits will feature a video, as if you walked up to a booth and a company explained what they do, and you will be able to download a brochure, contact a representative and more. Teacher networking will also take place both during the live conference and on the MusicEdConnect.com website under the video of each of the sessions. Therefore, you can discuss a particular session or topic with others interested in that same session.
We hope everyone will join us for this conference. We are very proud of the amazing presenters and what they have planned for everyone. I can’t wait to hear them myself!
