New Rhythm Resources:
Details of the New Accompaniment Tracks:

We want to get music and rhythm IN our students’ bodies! But it’s hard to do that with just clapping or tapping or body movements.
The Rhythm Menagerie® accompaniment music tracks add that missing musical element to the already musical rhythms in Rhythm Menagerie®. Sure, you can practice Menagerie rhythms with any drum track or beat. But, music is experienced with other musicians, each playing their own part and it all working together in a big collaborative music making experience!
The Rhythm Menagerie® Accompaniment Tracks aren’t just beats and riffs that are repeated. These are 864 original music tracks composed and performed to go beautifully with the rhythms in Rhythm Menagerie. There are 3 tempos for every line of music and two full measures of “countoff.” See more details on the Accompaniment Tracks Page.

Details of the New Progress Charts:

We know it’s important for students to see and visualize their progress when they are working through a big, comprehensive rhythm curriculum like Rhythm Menagerie®.
But progress charts can be really uninteresting and are definitely overused to the point that students often get bored with them. And this certainly doesn’t help them feel excited about moving forward to learn more.
But even though I was a “star on the chart” kind of girl as a child, stars are just not enough these days in the visual society that we live in. So we were determined to design progress charts for Rhythm Menagerie® that were imaginative, unusual, stunning, and truly motivating for kids.
These unique progress charts reward students with funny and engaging stickers that can be placed on an absolutely beautiful menagerie canvas. There are 9 stickers per unit and students place a sticker on their chart for every page they accurately complete. The Rhythm Menagerie® Progress Charts come with 8 menagerie canvases, one for each unit. Then you also receive a file for all the stickers and you can print on easily obtained Avery labels 5293.
BONUS OFFER: Purchase the progress charts AND the accompaniment tracks OR the progress charts, tracks, and Menagerie (buy them pre-packaged in the drop down options above the Add to Cart button) and get a FREE set of unique stickers that you can print over and over again. Watch video to learn more.

Details of the New Edition of Rhythm Menagerie®:
In the past 7 years, I’ve learned about teaching and composing rhythm through Rhythm Cup Explorations®, which is just a supplement to the comprehensive Rhythm Menagerie® and Manipulations core curriculum. And when I considered these things and what we’ve learned about what it’s like to be a child, I knew that I really wanted to revise about ⅓ of the rhythms in Rhythm Menagerie® before I let the other musicians create the music tracks. I wanted both the rhythm to be music AND the tracks to be musical.
So the revised edition has all of these updates plus track numbers so that you can tell exactly which tracks go with which line of music!
Here’s your surprise if you’ve already purchased it!
But here’s the surprise for those of you who already have the old edition! When a new edition of a book comes out, it’s traditional to sell the book again because publishers have to make money to stay in business. But we decided for a variety of reasons that if you already purchased Rhythm Menagerie® whether it was last week or 7 years ago, we are going to give you the new edition at no charge. All you have to do is log into your ComposeCreate® account and you’ll find that the NEW edition of Rhythm Menagerie® is now in your account in place of the old one.

Here’s what teachers are saying about Rhythm Menagerie®:
I would be tearing my hair out if it wasn’t for Menagerie and Manipulations. They have made my life so much better. After 6 months, two of my rhythmically challenged transfer students are beginning to play rhythms correctly the first time.
Secondly, all my younger students now count automatically under their breath. It is amazing. No reminders needed; it is just part of their playing. I am amazed! Another girl, who had a serious rhythm issue, just couldn’t feel a steady beat even when walking, has a good internal beat.
W.H.
I love these! Each set meets a need for fun and rhythm. Seriously. They’re great.
Diane Hidy
I have had so much success with the Rhythm Menagerie®. It is hard to believe how eager they are to count out loud, tap, clap etc. It has been fabulous.
Theodora Carr
The book is so well designed in so many ways. I used it with students as soon as I downloaded and they are having a lot of fun. Especially high fiving and counting during one of the lessons. That brought a lot of laughs….
Susan Hong
This is really a huge learning tool and lots of fun! EVERY elementary school should have this as a precursor to their band programs.

Can you please tell me the difference between the North American “classroom edition” and “piano edition”? Thank you!
Sure thing, Shelley!
Piano vs. Classroom:
The only difference between the piano and classroom editions are the introductory pages for each unit. The piano edition instructs students to do activities on the piano. The classroom edition instructs students to do activities with “their instrument” and this will work with any instrument including piano.
North American vs. International:
The difference between the North American (uses terms like “quarter, half, whole”)and International edition (uses terms like “crotchet, minum, quaver”) have to do with what kind of rhythm terms you use.
And just for future reference…our new store is pretty cool because when you actually choose one of those, it will show a more detailed description right above the Add to Cart button. So if you are ever confused about which edition you need, go ahead and choose and edition and you’ll see a more detailed description.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
