Students will love the way their fingers “argue” in this late elementary piece! Minor Squabble sounds just the way you’d expect a piano squabble to sound: spirited and quick, with a few octaves being explored throughout the “argument”. This piece provides a wonderful opportunity for telling a story with the notes, as the ebb and flow of dynamics and conversation between RH and LH contains the same spirit of a verbal disagreement.
What level is Minor Squabble?
Minor Squabble is a late elementary solo. There is no key signature, but accidentals are placed throughout. No pedal and an emphasis on staccato notes makes it a wonderful piece for teaching articulation. The LH features a pattern that students will easily feel comfortable with, while the right hand goes between the left hand notes for pops of staccato.
The smallest note value is an eighth note, and both hands play in both bass and treble clef. Because of the repeating patterns, this movement around the piano is easily learned by students.
Bonus recording included!
Minor Squabble comes with a bonus mp3 recording performed by Wendy Stevens. You are permitted to send this example performance track to your students to help them learn the piece.
