Just like a caterpillar’s metamorphosis into a butterfly, Transformation weaves beautifully through modes and piano registers to paint a picture. The piece transforms from a perky mood to a completely different style and feel in the final section. Students will love the mature and emotional sound, and the entire piece provides an opportunity to explore dynamics and various tempos.

What level is Transformation?

Transformation is a late elementary solo. The piece moves from A melodic minor to A major with brief modal inflections in between. Accidentals are written in so that there are no key signatures. Fingering is written in on passages that move out of a five-finger pattern, and helpful LH and RH notes are included throughout the piece as well. The smallest note value is an eighth note.
