Big Temporary Change to Our Studio License!

During this time of unprecedented distress, we at ComposeCreate are adjusting the licensing for all of our studio licensed musicRhythm MenagerieRhythm Manipulations, and Rhythm Cup Explorations PDFs. Here is what we will be adjusting to help you teach effectively during this time:

If you are teaching lessons remotely, we will be granting a temporary licensing change to allow you the freedom to send the PDF file of studio-licensed music, Menagerie, Manipulations or Rhythm Cup Explorations to any student that you directly teach so that they can have this accessible to them during their lessons. This allowance for sending the file electronically will be permitted through April 30th, 2020 and then original licensing terms will apply after that date which restricts any kind of electronic submission. We are closely monitoring health recommendations during this time and will let you know if this date will be extended.

About the rhythm tracks:

The accompaniment tracks for any of our rhythm resources are not included in any kind of permission to share and cannot be duplicated for students as these have been and will continue to be available for parents to purchase. So please invite parents to purchase the accompaniment tracks so that their child can practice with the accompaniment music at home. You will have far greater success if the student is playing these while clapping them in an online lesson than if you are playing them and having the student clap (due to the delay that is always present). Parents can purchase just the tracks without the PDF here:

My First Rhythm Cup Explorations Tracks

Rhythm Cup Explorations 1 Tracks

Rhythm Cup Explorations 2 Tracks

Rhythm Menagerie Tracks

The Rhythm Menagerie tracks are particularly helpful with home practice because the slow and medium tempo track have the rhythm clapped as it is on the page…so students can actually learn this without a teacher in that way! The fastest track is without the rhythm clapping to help test students to see if they have mastered the rhythm. **Note: There are no Rhythm Manipulations tracks yet but stay tuned!**

Other legal details:

Please remember that neither the studio license nor this temporary adjustment have ever allowed use by more than one teacher, even teachers in the same location/studio. Each teacher using the resource must have purchased their own license separately in order to use this. We do enforce our copyrights and trademarks vigorously as this is the only way that we can make a living and continue to provide piano teaching resources for teachers.

I hope this is good news for you and I’m happy to be able to do this because rhythm is one of the most fundamental parts of music and improving it will improve all music making!

If you have any questions, please let me know. In the meantime, please know that I am thinking of and praying for you all during this difficult time. We’ll be releasing more articles that should be helpful in retaining your students during these stressful circumstances.
