Thank you for your order! Here are a few common questions with detailed answers about downloading items from the ComposeCreate store.

FAQs

The best way to do this is to get them  on your home computer first where you can unzip them easily. Then, you’ll just need to transfer the to iTunes and sync your iPad. If you don’t have iTunes on your PC, you can download it on the Apple site and follow the directions that are on this site.

How to get them to your iPad and/or play with iTunes (assuming you have iTunes on your computer):

  1. Click on the link (be sure to do this to both). This will cause them to download to your computers “downloads folder.”
  2. To open the zipped files, find them in your downloads folder and then double click. This will extract the files to a folder.
  3. Double click the folder that is created to see all the tracks.
  4. Open iTunes and drag the files from Finder to iTunes.
  5. After you put them  in iTunes, be sure to connect your iPad to your computer and you’ll sync the files and be able to see them on your iPad. 

How to download the beats straight to your iPad:

  1. Go to the iPad email program. Open the email and click on the link. The email program will automatically take you to a browser and will have a box that says “Open in” or “Open in iZip.” Choose “Open in iZip.”

  2. Your iPad will take you to iZip and iZip will say “Would you like to extract all files?” Say OK.
  3. The files will be there and you can click on any of them to play them! You can select individual files and click the “open in” choice at the bottom of the screen to open in AnyTune if you have that installed. That will give you more controls for pausing, looping, etc. [NOTE: Apple does not let you play mp3s on iTunes that are not purchase through iTunes, UNLESS you download them to your computer first, drag them to iTune on your computer and then sync your iPad to that.]

While on your iPad or iPhone, simply check your email and click the download link that comes to you after you order. Then, when the PDF opens up, tap the document and you will see an “open in…” message appear. Choose which program you want to open your PDF in and your iPad or iPhone should save it in that program.

If you have already downloaded the PDF on your desktop and your link is expired or used too many times, simply visit this page to get a new download link so that you can open it on your iPad.

It sounds like you are on a Mac or perhaps don’t have the latest Adobe Reader installed on your PC. Mac defaults to the “preview” program to open PDFs, but this is not a fully enabled PDF viewer program. Make sure that you download the free Adobe Reader (the industry standard for viewing and printing PDFs) and if you have it downloaded and are using it, make sure it’s the latest version. You can get it or update it here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/ Then right click on the file and choose to open it in Adobe Reader.

If Adobe Reader doesn’t appear to be one of the choices when you right click the file, your computer doesn’t really have Adobe installed. Be sure to find the .dmg file in your downloads and double click to download it. It will take you through the steps easily.

Another way to do this:

Make sure you have Adobe already installed. Then, go to your programs or apps folder and open Adobe Reader. Click the file button on the upper left corner while in Adobe Reader and choose Open. Then, browse out to find the file and click on it. This should open it and display everything with no problem!

  1. Go to your App store on your iPad and search for and download the free Winzip program.
  2. Go back to your mail and click on the download link from the email I sent you.
  3. This will launch your browser and it will ask you where you want to open it. Choose to open it with WinZip.
  4. Your files will extract automatically and you can play (if it’s an mp3) or view (if it’s a PDF) from the WinZip program.
  5. If you wish to move it to another program (like you want to move your PDF to Notability or Adobe Reader), then click the little icon on the top right that looks like a square with an arrow pointing up. This will give you other programs options for opening and storing these files.
  6. P.S. If you want to move your mp3 files to iTunes, Apple does not make an option for this. You’ll have to move these to your desktop and move them to iTunes from there and then sync with your devise. You can still play the mp3s from WinZip or I would recommend downloading and moving it to AnyTune so that you can control the speed!!!!

We now have a special page that you can use to have download links to ALL of your past purchases emailed to you. Go to Past Purchases Help to use this handy tool. Please note: If you purchased a product at a live event, you may not be able to use this feature and will need to email me (please allow 24-48 for a response, longer if it is the weekend). 
Check your spam or junk folder. Ninety-nine percent of the time when you can’t find  it, it is there. If you will check that and mark the email from ComposeCreate.com as “not junk” or move it to your inbox, you’ll usually not have this problem again. Be aware that if you used a spouse’s Paypal account, it will be in their inbox!

If you used an eCheck, you will not receive an email with a link until after the check has cleared Paypal. This can take up to 10 days.

Just press enter/return on your keyboard. Chances are, your screen is small enough that you can’t see the “okay” button that’s at the bottom of the javascript message. The message just appears when you open it to remind you not to print it all at once (it will overwhelm home printers) and to kindly remind you of the copyright.

Of course! When you click the “Check out with Paypal button,” there will be an option to pay without creating a Paypal account. Click the “Don’t have a Paypal account” text and you can check out quickly, easily, securely and without an account.

If you do not wish to do that, you can always email me your phone number and I can charge your credit card through a different service than Paypal.

    I just downloaded your rhythm cups book. I do not have an ipad and really don’t want to print this out on my printer.
    I can bring this to a copy store and make into book form right? Your thoughts and ideas?

    Absolutely! You can take it to a printer and they can make it into a book form beautifully. If you are an MTNA member, be sure to use your MTNA discount card and you can get cheaper color copies if you use Office Depot!

    Thanks for your interest! You are right that a majority of my items are downloads. You can definitely take them to a printer to have them printed though if you want to do that.

    There are a few books on the music page (look at All is Calm Christmas, Rejoice, and a few others) that are actual books that you can order. Thanks!

    I recently purchased Rhythm Menagerie and I was wanting to project it for a classroom, but to convert to a power point it asks for a password. Is there another way to do this that I’m not just not thinking of? Or do you provide a password to do such a thing?

    Sorry for the delay responding…I’ve been out of the office for a much needed break. I think the best way to do this is just to show it in the Adobe Reader program. You can enlarge pages or just show page by page in that program. Thanks for your purchase and I hope your students have fun!

    Thanks so much for letting us know that you were still waiting. Yesterday, we were still editing, rendering, polishing and uploading the video, so it wasn’t available yet. Unfortunately, we have to manually give access to the recording (unlike purchasing rhythm books and music which generate automatically), so we need a little extra time to do the back side things to get you access.

    BUT the good news is that you should now have access! I just sent you a separate email about how to access it. Let me know if you don’t get it!

    I’m hoping you can clarify this situation. I ordered both the Rhythm Cup Explorations and BEATS via your website via Paypal to my credit card. My statement shows that I was charged as of 4/22. I’ve NEVER received anything – no notification that you received my order, no pdf’s, no audio files, nothing. I’ve checked and rechecked my spam – nothing. I sent you an e-mail asking why I was not receiving my purchase. No response.

    My piano teaching colleagues have recommended you. I hope that this is just some glitch, and that I can continue to believe in that recommendation.

    I’m sorry you haven’t been getting my messages! My email shows that my website send you your order confirmation and download link within minutes after you purchased it on 4/21. Then, I responded to your email that you sent 5/4 right away (as I always do when someone is having trouble…unless it comes on the weekend). SO, there must be something about your email that is keeping my messages from coming through. Please check your spam filter for an email from ComposeCreate.com from 4/21 and 5/4 and you can see that I have been indeed responded and trying to get you your order!

    Please email me and we can try this again! I haven’t been receiving bounces from your address, so I’m guessing that it’s just ending up in your spam.

    Keep me posted and if you can’t get something through or don’t get a response, you might send me a different email address to which I can try to deliver it.

    We’ll figure it out! I never give up on customers and always make sure they get what they order! 🙂

    I appreciate your timely response. However, as I look back to both my e-mail inbox and spam inbox for both dates of 4/21 and 5/4, there is no correspondence from you. I did receive a payment confirmation on 4/21 from Paypal, but nothing from you. And there is no e-mail from 5/4. Obviously, something is amiss, either from your end, my end, or our servers. I did receive your message above as a private e-mail to the address. Hmmmm. I also have two other addresses you could use: and . I’m sure there is a solution to this problem. Thank you.

    Yes, sometimes there is no great explanation to an undelivered email. You should have a new email, complete with all your download links (fresh ones) in all of the email addresses that you sent me.

    Since there was no bounce on your email address, and since I did respond to your email on 5/7, I had no idea that you didn’t get those emails. I apologize for that. I go the extra mile to make sure everyone gets what they order when I know that there is a problem.

    Please know that customers and orders take #1 priority around here and I hope this quick response to your comment will confirm that should you choose to order again.

    I just downloaded and can’t wait to share with my students. Which pages go with the mp3 because the second book has 3/4 Time, but the mp3 don’t match.

    Thanks for your purchase! Good question. There are only mp3s for book 1 at this time, but we are working on the ones for Book 2. Some of the mp3s in book 1 go with pages in Book 2, but obviously not with the compound meter or triple meter. For Book 1, you’ll see on the page which track to use.

    I hope that helps at least explain it. I’ll let you know in a newsletter when the book 2 beats are available.

    Thanks so much for your interest! Yes, let me tell you how we can do that! We do require payment before sending the download links for the products, so here are two ways your school can do that with a purchase order:

    1. Have your school contact me to let me know what it is you would like to order (and have them include your email, their email, and your name, and what the purchase order number should be). I can create a purchase order and send that to them. They can pay for this immediately with a credit card and then after it’s paid, I can send your items.

    2. Your school can also send a check after I invoice them. They’ll need to let me know it’s coming and then I’ll be on the lookout for it and deposit it as soon as it’s here. My bank notifies me via email when a check is clear, so as soon as it’s clear, I can send you the download links for your items.

    I bought the Rhythm Menagerie Book and read about using it digitally instead of printing. When I tried to email from my iPad it would only give me the option to mail the whole book. Is there a way to mail one page at a time or maybe I need to load it on my computer and try it there?

    Thanks again for your purchase! The file doesn’t allow emailing individual pages. However, you can take a picture on your iPad to send. You can usually do this by pressing the home button and the side button at the same time. I hope that helps!

    Hi, Wendy – In January I purchased Rhythm Cup Explorations and the Rhythm Beats mp3s as well. Today I attempted to unzip these files and it says they are empty. I was using Extract on my computer, so I followed your suggestion, downloaded WinZip and tried it that way. It said something about not having been archived. Anyway, I’m at a loss. Help, please! Thank you.

    Yes, I do ship to Canada. It’s expensive, but you probably already know that. Many of our products are digital, so you don’t have to have shipping with those. However it if the button that you push to add it to your cart says “Add prints to cart” or “Add book to cart,” that’s when you know that it will need to be shipped. Then, shipping will be added to your total after you click the check out button. You’ll be able to see the shipping amount before you pay!

    Thanks for asking! No, they are not available on iTunes. To get them to iTunes, you’d have to put them on your commputer and then sync your phone with itunes that way. There are directions about how to do that above.

Is the Studio license enough to cover my situation, and if I buy the Rhythm bundle, is the Studio License included? Thanks! I have to have my Req in by this Wednesday for Instructional Aids, so I appreciate your quick response. Is the bundle entirely downloadable, or do I get a hard copy?

    Thanks for your interest in the rhythm materials!

    The studio license comes with any of our rhythm books like Rhythm Menagerie, Rhythm Manipulations, Rhythm Cup Explorations 1, Rhythm Cup Explorations 2, and Holiday Rhythm Cup Explorations. You can use the resources for every student YOU directly teach. You only need to purchase more than one IF there is another teacher teaching from it. They would need their own studio license.

    And yes, you can use the one resource with as many teachers or classroom in which YOU are teaching!

    We keep the prices down on our rhythm products by making them available digitally. We send a high quality PDF of the entire book to you and the mp3s are also high quality. If you wish to make your own print, that is within the license when you purchase it provided you are the only teacher teaching from it.

    That’s a great question! The answer to that is under the license info on the Beats page and I’ll paste a version of it here for you:

    How can I legally use Rhythm Cup Explorations Beats?

    “You have permission to use Rhythm Cup Explorations Beats with your students during their lessons. However, you are not permitted to send the entire set of tracks to any of your students. Instead, you can send students up to 4 mp3s (that would be all the tracks for one page) per week, but if you want them to have ALL of the tracks, you students must purchase them here. This license cannot be shared with or transferred other teachers, even within the same studio. See terms and conditions for full information.”

    I’d just tell the parents to go purchase it themselves. At $5.99 (book 1) and $8.99 (2nd book), it’s an easy investment for them (and keeps me in business since I can’t make any money off repeat purchases like publishers do with method books).
