“Ride Like the Wind” is SO easy to teach, and my student loves it! I have a young student who rides horses and takes riding lessons. She was thrilled to receive this piece, and I have been thrilled to see how well it feel under our hands, besides sounding so good! I love the rhythm, and the shifts are minimal, and very doable. My student needed a boost this long, cold winter, and this piece is doing the trick! Thank you, Wendy! This piece is a winner! It’s another example of “Music Kids Love”. 🙂

I have a student who really likes animals. Her eyes lit up when I pulled this out. Quick moving with a driving beat. Great piece to introduce playing 1 beat to the measure rather than in a 3. Great piece to learn during the winter doldrums.

I have a 7th grade student, a girl, who rides competitively. She loves this piece. As she learns it and gradually increases the tempo it really starts to sound like galloping hooves. It also sounds harder with the increased speed. The perfect piece for her! She will be playing this for our spring recital.

“Ride Like the Wind” is the perfect song for any person who has always dreamed of owning or riding a horse. Several of my students take riding lessons so this piece certainly brought a big smile to their faces as soon as they saw the beautiful cover page. It’s been fun for them to discover the repeated patterns throughout the song and the subtle changes to them to make it easier to learn as well as to move the song along, making it such an exciting “ride”. The tied LH makes it easy to play and keeps the big sound. They love the energy of the song and when the horse gallops along at a quick tempo, they can feel the exhileration of the ride and the accomplishment of playing it successfully to the end of “the ride”. We all have loved to play this song and the story telling and imagery that goes along with it as it builds to such a climax before the ride ends and the rider climbs down. This song is definitely one that kids love to play….and so do I!

All I can say is “perfect!” For boys, girls, adults. Well written for guaranteed success. But even more importantly it *sounds* so good, so catchy, so in-the-saddle, that one can’t help but be motivated to work hard and learn it!

Every student I’ve shared this with has LOVED it! They really like the sound of it, and especially like how advanced they sound when they play it. It’s also a wonderful song to teach how to recognize patterns and break down the music into small measures so it doesn’t seem overwhelming. Great piano piece!!!

To be honest, my daughter would rather be riding her horses than practicing, but this piece got her sitting at the piano instead of the saddle!!! It’s so rhythmic and hypnotic–very fun to play!!!
