Go With You is a fun elementary piano solo about what every dog wants…to go with you everywhere…even to school. This song is written from the perspective of a dog and will make any piano student with a dog smile and practice this song with excitement and energy. Some of these lyrics include:
I’ll learn to read and to write.
I’ll study extra at night.
I’ll learn to count with my treats!
I want to go with you, why can’t you hide me under your seat?

Leveling
This piece is mid to late elementary. The smallest note value in the piece is the quarter note. The piece is in d minor and the right hand stays in this comfortable 5 finger position in the main part of the piece. The left hand moves to other easy 5 finger positions. The piece explores several octaves of the piano. The B section has students move to other positions, but these are all easy to find and easy to play.
Pedaling is written in the middle section of Go With You, but it is completely optional. The piece will sound fun even without the pedal.
Go With You comes with a bonus!
Like all of our pieces, the adorable cover comes with your purchase. But you will also receive an mp3 bonus performance recording so that you can send this to your students. This can help them learn the piece more quickly at home.
Part of the New Pet Shop Series

This series includes (as of January 2020 – more will be coming):
- Fuzzy Facts (a cat piece)
- Go With You (a dog piece) – That’s this piece!
- Through the Glass (a fish piece)
Hope Mitchell –
I used this with a 9 year old who needed something a little challenging and he loves the cute lyrics and syncopation. He is motivated to practice.

“Go With You” has been a massive hit in my studio during the pandemic. Several kids in the studio got dogs, so it was perfect! Once I taught a few things by rote (like flats and hand position changes on the second page), it was a breeze and the children loved it.Everyone who is a beginner/late beginner loved it!
