Fairy Dust is a whimsical and delicate piece that even older students will love because of its mature sound. It’s the 5th piece in our popular Mystical Creatures Series (See Mythical Creatures Bundle 1 and Mythical Creatures bundle 2). Your purchase includes the original cover artwork and a special bonus fairy coloring page!
Level of Fairy Dust
The smallest note value in this piece is a quarter note. Fairy Dust is written in G Lydian Dominant, but with no key signature – only accidentals written in. The damper pedal is held throughout.
An accidental (a C#) appears only four times throughout the piece and is written in (so no key signature). The damper pedal is held down throughout. The hand position makes it easy for small hands to play, even with the LH occasionally leaving its position to play a treble note.
Bonus Coloring Page + Mp3 file
Every piece in our Mythical Creatures series, including Fairy Dust includes a beautiful coloring page with our original artwork. In addition, your purchase also includes the beautiful cover (always included in our pieces). Students can start a collection of mythical creatures by printing these and hanging them on their wall at home!
Fairy Dust also comes with a bonus mp3 performance of this piece. You are permitted to send this mp3 file to your student to help them learn the piece.
The Mythical Creatures Bundles
Fairy Dust can also be purchased as a discounted bundle. We have two Mythical Creatures Bundles:
- Mythical Creatures Bundle 1 includes Unicorn Gliding, Mermaid Wishes, and Dragon Dreams
- Mythical Creatures Bundle 2 includes Fairy Dust (this piece), Leprechaun Leaps, and Troll Trouble
What is a studio license?
Fairy Dust comes with a studio license which licenses the purchasing teacher to print as many copies as needed for any student they directly teach. So it is like getting an unlimited supply of this Music Kids Love® for yourself and your students. The studio license is not a multi-teacher license, so it can only be used by one teacher. However, the music and bonus can be used by as many students as the purchasing teacher directly instructs on a regular basis.
You can see more elementary music with a studio license here!

As an older adult (actually senior!) I am trying to learn your songs mostly by myself, (I have a friend who is a piano teacher that I can ask questions.) and also some beginner lesson books.
I started with Up Sandy Ripple Road and Fairy Dust which I learned fairly easily. I love the slower paced longs that you compose! I am almost finished with Prairie Creek Sunrise and View from the Canoe – both lovely songs.
Your music is different than the other genres, which I usually don’t like. As a senior, I can be picky since I don’t have a teacher that tells me what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you!

A new 4th grade student of mine has had 3 piano teachers in a short time due to CoVid. She has needed a boost of confidence, and once she saw this title, she wanted to hear it right away!!! She is SO excited to learn this piece. It sounds mature and impressive and soothing. ‘Just the right mix. Thanks for the “kiss” of fairy dust idea. My piano is a little bright on top, so this will help as I teach this piece and other pieces.
