I’m excited to explore different parts of this beautiful earth, and Vancouver Island is the subject of this new reading and rote piece.

Vancouver Island Sunset begins with easy patterns using the three strongest fingers on the hand. Now you might not think that finger number 4 is strong, but it’s a part of the 3 fingers of the hand that are most like each other in height and anatomy. That would be fingers 2, 3, and 4. So when kids play patterns with only these 3 fingers, there is usually a more even tone and a more even rhythm.

In the B section of this Canadian piano music, the LH switches to playing a triad with fingers 5, 3, and 1. So a traidic feeling is explored.
