You and your audience will love this year’s editable recital template! The new Holiday Newspaper Program is absolutely charming and exudes nostalgia and a feeling of reminiscence. This template saves you time, uses white space to save on the cost of printing, and is easy to use. But it gives the impression that you spent hours getting every detail right.
Plus, a professional-looking recital makes you look like the professional you are! Everything – from invitations to the programs and compliment cards – is included. This means your recital looks cohesive from the moment parents hear about it until their child receives their compliment cards.

The Holiday Newspaper Template Details
This template pays homage to quaint nostalgia of Christmases past. Each page of the program features real Letters to Santa from vintage newspapers, as well as old Christmastime ads – including ones for pianos! Because the template makes your program look like a newspaper, your audience feels invited to look at and engage with it as well.
I’m even going to use it as wrapping paper for my student gifts because I love the piano ads!
Typically our templates include both color and black and white versions of programs. But because newspapers are already black and white, it means a big savings on ink, whether you print from home or at a print shop.
One of my favorite details is the Compliment Cards – the title says “Compliments – Heard on the Street!”, and features different vintage drawings. There’s an obvious spot for student names, and it feels like a real, old-timey newspaper excerpt.
What’s Included in the Recital Template Bundle?
Here’s everything included in the Holiday Newspaper editable recital template bundle:
- 8.15×11 invitation poster
- 4-up invitations that can be handed out to your studio families
- Vertical template front side
- Vertical template back side (different from the front)
- Horizontal, foldable template (Note: all text is editable except for the Letters from Santa and the ads featured on the program.)
- Compliment cards

Text is Editable! Multiple File Formats!
Just like our other recital templates, we’ve included PDF files, Word files (for PC users), and Pages files (for Mac users). There are clickable text boxes that are easy to use so that you can personalize this template to fit your studio. Please note that the Letters to Santa and the vintage ads are from actual newspapers, and therefore can’t be edited as a text box. But all the wording about your recital (including the title) can be edited!
We’d love to know what you think of this new design! We love the invitation that a newspaper brings to invite people to read and enjoy, and we hope your audience is as delighted by these letters to Santa as we were!

Oh, my. As beautiful as all the other Compose Create recital programs are, this has got to be the most charming. The images evoke all the wonderful traditions of past Christmases, and of favorite holiday sights, sounds, and feelings! And being in black and white, my poor ailing color printer won’t be needed. PLUS–when my students perform in December, I’ll hand around crayons and colored pencils to those who listen better with their hands busy, and they can color the images on the program! Thanks, Wendy. They are amazing.
