We’re Moving to Mexico!

Jill Zuber from Michigan recently told me that the Rhythm Menagerie fun has moved into rural Mexico! Jill founded and works with a beautiful, non-profit organization called Music Mosaic which provides music lessons and classes to help train students to serve their community and churches with their gifts.

She writes this about how she has used it:

I use Rhythm Menagerie when I teach rhythm seminars in Becal, Campeche, Mexico once a year through Music Mosaic (www.musicmosaic.org). The students love it! The rhythms are fun and the illustrations are a big hit. The seminars are for piano, guitar, drum, and voice students to all work on rhythm together for two days. We group them by level and the levels work together to advance through the book at their own pace. In addition to Rhythm Menagerie, we do group games and some group instruction.

The Music Mosaic school of Mexico is located in Becal, which is a small town in rural Mexico. Before it opened two years ago, there was no place for children or adults to take classes on any kind of musical instrument, until they went to high school or college in a larger city. Abraham Colli grew up in Becal and after college and seminary he returned to open the music school. The school is thriving and growing! It is so exciting to be a part of it. Right now the school is fundraising to purchase land of their own and remodel a building to be their own school, with two classrooms and several practice rooms.

It makes me smile to think that Rhythm Menagerie is improving the rhythm of students all around the world! Thanks for sharing Jill!
