But this year, we’re doing two can’t-miss webinars! These webinars are completely different from each other, but each addresses a significant need that we’ve heard from many ComposeCreate teachers. Both of these are a great way to kick off the new year and you’ll come away with lots of energy and ideas for motivating your students with beautiful music!

What Can I Expect at the Surprise Webinar?

This kick-off webinar is usually a favorite of teachers! It’s sometimes hard to get back into the excitement of teaching after summer, but you’ll go away with all kinds of ideas and excitement for teaching if you attend.

Here are some of the things we’ll be releasing and doing:

• Launching new Music Kids Love® of course!
• Adding exciting pieces to several of our motivating series
• Launching a completely new resource that can help you motivate students with MUSIC! We really think this will make your students want to learn more music and work faster to learn it!

Teaching scales has got to be one of the most boring parts of piano lessons, both for the teacher AND the student. Sometimes there’s a level of satisfaction in doing it right, and we all feel like it’s a necessary skill.

But is it really musical? Of course you can crescendo as you go up and diminuendo as you go down, but is there anything else that’s musical about the playing of scales?

The truth is, there’s not. There’s no harmonic context, there’s no beautiful melody, there’s no rhythm. It’s just boring.

Plus, are these “scale skills” really even transferring to students’ music? It’s a valid question.

But Diane Hidy has created and has been using an amazing resource in her studio that fixes all of those issues. You will be amazed that there is now an answer to all these issues and you and your students can actually enjoy working on scales and fingerings!
