What Level is Whither the Weather?

The pieces in Whither the Weather are mid elementary. They are all in C position. One piece is excellent for helping students become comfortable moving “out of position” as it move them slowly and only one measure at a time. None of the pieces require pedaling. All of the pieces are carefully articulated and fingered to help students play musically and to help them learn the piece quickly.

There’s a lot of imagination packed in these Short Sheets! My students really like “Biting Cold”, because we just came off a huge winter storm. It’s easy to relate the phrases to big strong wind and biting hail. Thanks, Wendy – for this great music:)

I used these with an adult beginner because they have a contemporary sound that is appealing. She really enjoyed them and even found the weather titles to be a metaphor for events in her life presently. For her, the pieces were a wonderful avenue to express herself emotionally. They are among her favorites!

“Silver Lining” is a great little piece for students who start exploring the bass clef notes. They can read it and for playing they memorize the position changes easily. Also the piece sounds great. Not only the student loved it but also his mom.
