This arrangement of O Holy Night is a fresh take on a familiar tune for late elementary to early intermediate students. Instead of beginning with root position broken chords, the piece begins with a second inversion chord which propels the music forward in a more interesting way. When the melody note is held for long periods, the left hand plays different chords instead of the same chord four times (see mm. 16-17)
The middle section is big, broad and very exciting, yet accessible for this level of pianist.
What is the level of O Holy Night?
This arrangement is early intermediate level, though many late elementary students may also be able to play it. The arrangement is in 6/8 meter and the smallest note value is the eighth note (with the exception of two measures on the last page which contain a familiar motive). Syncopated pedaling is notated throughout the composition.
O Holy Night begins and ends in C Major.
