  1. Alice McFarland

My student loves this piece!! You teaching tips are invaluable!! This will be her Christmas Recital piece! Your compositions are so motivating for my students! Please keep them coming! Between Diane Hidy & Wendy Stevens, my studio cup “runneth over.”

  2. Catherine R.

My son Elliot played your arrangement of Carol of the Bells last year for his Christmas recital. He loved it and so did the audience—several people walked up to him afterwards to compliment him on his performance. This piece had him move all over the keyboard, which appeals to him far more than sticking close to middle C. The relative simplicity of the arrangement gave Elliot so much breathing room to explore dynamics and his own sense of artistry.

  3. Gabrielle Tee

In previous years, I have honestly dreaded when a student wants to learn “Carol of the Bells”
However, Diane’s reharmonization is a game-changer. I now am suggesting this piece as my top choice when an intermediate student requests a Christmas song. Plus, it’s actually successful for them as well! This will certainly end up on the winter recital this year.

  4. Vanesa Read

I gave Carol of the Bells to students of different levels. It’s easy enough for the upper elementary students, but beautiful enough for the more advanced students to quickly learn for Christmas parties.

  5. Angelina

A beautiful arrangement of a piece I usually dread to teach/have my students play! It has the contemporary sound to it, yet keeping with the original sound–my students love it & so do I! It’s a win-win:)

  6. Rhoda Runcieman

This piece has been the biggest hit with my students on the run up to Christmas this year, mainly as we seem to be hearing arrangements of it everywhere on television and radio. It sounds so impressive although simple enough to learn in a few weeks for intermediate students, giving them that sense of achievement. It’s been an utter joy to teach this. I love all of Diane Hidy’s and Wendy Stevens’ music. So enjoyable for all my students, thank you.

  7. Emily Morgan

Beautiful arrangement! My students are enjoying it and I don’t get tired of teaching it!

  8. Lisa

This is a great arrangement! I also love the teaching tips included. Thank you for providing such inspiring, compelling, and accessible music for our students!

  9. Lohnay Parkes Bishoff

I gave this piece to a early teenage student who has no problem telling me if she doesn’t like something. She has been engaged in this song from the beginning and is currently at a Late Elementary, Early Intermediate Level in her method book. It sounds beautiful, is easy enough to learn but technical enough to offer a little bit of a challenge. Thank you for your creative genius!

  10. Lisa Schuler

Several of my students are learning Carol of the Bells and they love this arrangement. It makes sense to them, they feel proud of the musical sounds they are making, which is so important. Wonderful arrangement!

  11. Amber Saldivar

This will become a standard classic in my studio, I am sure. I have two preteen girls in my studio who are absolutely loving it! It is motivating because it sounds mature and grown-up, yet it is easy enough for intermediate students to master. There is lots of room in this piece for artistic expression! The master it faster teaching tips are so helpful in giving the student a jumpstart.

  12. Fiona

The Carol of the Bells is particularly pretty and I have some intermediate girls who are loving it. One said it was her new favourite piece to relax to. ☺️

  13. Sarah Ball

Perfect for an insecure middle school student

  14. Phyllis

What a beautiful arrangement of a timeless piece. I have a teen who came to me from another teacher just 5 weeks before our Christmas Recital. Her skills were a bit lacking but she wanted to sound impressive. She was thrilled to be able to play this piece.

  15. Esther C Doan

I have students who want to re-do this piece, even after doing it last year. They LOVE it! It is not hard which is a very good feature of Christmas music, yet it sounds wonderful.

  16. Lorna R Kujanpaa

In the past I have not shared my students’ enthusiasm for Carol of the Bells. But this arrangement is fresh and welcoming! I appreciate this arrangement and will gladly share it with many students!

  17. Joanne R.

My students have adored playing this piece, a gorgeous arrangement for a special time of year!

  18. Janet Limoges

I have a teenage piano student who didn’t want to come back to lessons but after hearing this piece she changed her mind. She is practicing this AND her scales and it’s all coming together very easily for her so she is encouraged. Thank you.

  19. Jolie

Carol of the Bells is my son’s favorite Christmas song so we were excited when his piano teacher told us about this beautiful arrangement by Diane Hidy. It is perfect for him at the late elementary level. This will definitely be a favorite piece he will play at Christmas for many years!

  20. Jerri Headrick

great arr. for early intermediates and adults!

  21. Sharon

The Diane Hidy Carol of the Bells was a big hit with my adult students.  The Master it Faster just prepared students to begin playing accurately and more musically.

  22. Carol

My students are enjoying Carol of the Bells! The rolled chord in Carol of Bells was a new technique for some of mine.  Had to remind them of 3/4 time – wanted to hold quarter note too long.  Told them to memorize that intro so they can be in control of moving up the keyboard. Great arrangement with musical interest !

  23. Eleni Pialoglou

Very interesting arrangement. One of my students (early intermediate) has learned it within a week. He is a very
“difficult” child (age 10 Years). He just loved it. I was amazed.

  24. Lori Jessen

This is a fantastic arrangement of Carol of the Bells. It’s my favorite that I’ve gotten so far, and believe me, I’ve purchased a LOT of them. My students all love it and I never get tired of listening to it. Every student is able to put their own touches on it since it it so accessible. I hope there will be many more pieces like this in the future!

  25. Mindy

I gave this piece to an elementary student who had recently quit piano, but then texted me on her mom’s phone to say she was sorry she had not been practicing and she had changed her mind and wanted to continue to take lessons, and committed to practicing.
This family is actually friends of ours, but either way, I said I’m happy
    to start back with her.

So, when she came back, it was time to pick a Christmas piece, so we chose
this one, and she is doing very well!

What I love about this piece is that it takes a very well known piece and
adds some beautiful surprises, but with patterns that a student can learn quickly. It also helps teachers to not get tired of very used pieces, haha!

Thanks for your music. What I like about the elementary level pieces is
that students who may not be that advanced or that talented can have a
beautiful piece that they can feel good about.

  26. Lorraine

The piece was challenging. Challenging because of the stylization. Students really had to listen to bring out the melody. I really enjoy the challenges you compose for them!

  27. Linda Sharp

This is a studio hit! My students can’t wait until they are old enough to play Diane’s arrangement. The octave shifts and 5-finger patterns make this piece so accessible. Any young or old beginner feels accomplished once they have studied this piece. Teach the hand cross measure first and you are all set.

  28. Emma Franklin

This beautiful arrangement of Carol of the Bells is a big hit amongst my students!

  29. Donna Schaefer

I have 2 students playing this arrangement. It is one of those “easy, sounds hard” pieces that all students love. I highly recommend purchasing!

  30. Melissa Toedtman

This is a fabulous setting. I have 4 students playing this at the moment. Several others are playing Wendy’s intermediate version. We are dig-a-linging all over the place!

  31. Kelly Parker

Love this piece! It has so much drama.

  32. Diane Lifferth

I love this version of Carol of the Bells. It is different for most other versions. I gave it to one of my students to work on for Christmas. Unfortunately, when I went to Georgia for Thanksgiving, my husband got Covid-19 and we had to stay there for 2 extra weeks. This wiped out all of my December lessons. The student was excited about it, so maybe next year.

  33. Jessica Giuffrida

This is a gorgeous piece, and was a great addition to our holiday recital this year. Thank you!
