New Beginnings celebrates the hope of a new start while still acknowledging the tentative nature of new beginnings. There’s no completely fresh start, so all those difficult things that are behind us can help us begin again with more wisdom and love. Those difficulties have refined us and given us a new perspective about the future. That perspective helps us begin again.
New Beginnings is an especially hopeful piece about 2021. After such a devastating year, this piece is composed with all the hope and promise of a better tomorrow.
What level is New Beginnings?
New Beginnings is late intermediate level. It’s quite manageable for intermediate level as well, except for about four measures in the B section – just a bit more movement in both hands. The smallest note value in the piece is the sixteenth note, but these are all in groups of four. The piece is mostly in G Major with a few beautiful jaunts through D Major. New Beginnings falls easily under the hands. There are two measures in which there are eighth note octaves in the right hand.
This piece is carefully edited with fingerings, dynamics, and articulations to help ensure a musical performance even in students. But the piece is an especially stunning performance, sacred music offering, or recital piece for teachers as well.
New Beginnings Includes a Free mp3 Performance
In addition to receiving the music and the cover (this is always included for ComposeCreate® pieces), you’ll also receive one free mp3 recording of New Beginnings performed by Wendy Stevens. This recording does not have any voiceovers so it will helpful for you and students in learning the piece. You are permitted to send this recording to your students who are working on the piece.

What a wonderful an refreshing piece you’ve share with us, Wendy. It has a diaphanous, airy and totally uplifting quality to it! I just finished playing it and already feel that buoyancy in my spirit.

I don’t currently have any students at this level, but I bought “New Beginnings” for myself to play at church. It’s a delight to play and lies under the fingers nicely.
