July Song by Diane Hidy is a snappy, festive piece that makes a huge sound with limited resources. Though the piece moves all over the piano, it never spans an interval larger than a 5th, making it an excellent choice for young students with small hands.
What level is July Song?
July Song is early intermediate. The piece is in the key of D Major, but there is no key signature as all of the accidentals are notated. This makes the piece easy to read for students just beginning this level. The smallest note value is the sixteenth note and only occurs in the main theme and in the same way each time. A small amount of pedaling occurs in the last 2 measures. There is a gentle glissando at the end of the piece.
