You can picture the beautiful ship on the cover of this piece sailing into harbor while playing, with dynamics and eighth note patterns that slightly swell just like the waves breaking in at a harbor.

What level is Eastern Harbor?

Eastern Harbor is a late elementary solo. The tonal center of this piece is E, and it has a pentatonic feel, giving it an eastern sound. The RH uses an easy 5-finger pattern. There are many accidentals written in, making the piece a wonderful chance to practice accidental reading, as well as finger dexterity within a 5-finger position.

Both LH and RH play in the treble clef throughout the piece. The end of the piece explores several registers of the piano, using a repeating pattern that makes the jumps simple. The smallest note value is an eighth note. Syncopated pedaling is notated in the score throughout.

Bonus recording included!

Eastern Harbor comes with a bonus mp3 recording performed by Wendy Stevens. You are permitted to send this example performance track to your students to help them learn the piece.

I purchase this Mid Air Meditation, Seaside Retreat, and Eastern Harbor bundle. My students had a choice to pick out their favorite one and they honestly could not choose only because they loved them all. The pieces are absolutely beautiful and a perfect fit for adults as well as preteens. They have such a peaceful sound.

I loved the music that I purchased which was the Seaside Meditation, Eastern Harbour, and Mid-Air Meditation. They give beginner students pieces to play that are layered and seemingly complex without becoming complicated.

This piece is great for late elementary/early intermediate students who need help developing artistry and emotion. The patterns in the music are also an invaluable help to students who struggle with ADD because it has a just a few patterns to remember. My students really appreciate that they can achieve beautiful playing with a song that sounds difficult.

I gave my student several pieces to choose from, and Eastern Harbor was her favorite. My student mastered it in just a few weeks, and played it with expressive flow. I’m so happy to be able to bring such lovely music to her and her family!
