Dr. Melody Hanberry Payne has a fun site called The Plucky Pianista that you’ll want to check out, especially if you have beginners. Dr. Hanberry has held positions in a number of colleges and universities and is a nationally certified teacher of music. I met Melody a number of years ago when we were at the MTNA conference in Toronto, Canada. She is every bit of the plucky (courageous, brave, and spirited, lots of resolution and fortitude)Â variety.
Melody has produced a host of lovely printables (some free, some for sale) that are wonderful for children. Her graphics are consistent appealing to young students and she is an excellent pedagogue, so her materials are put together in a logical and teacher friendly way. Here are some to check out:
- The Blog – where she posts about all kinds of things including her resources
- Freebies – Lots of beautiful and useful materials here. I downloaded many of them to my iPad and will be using them in the fall. You can open them in Notability and Skitch and have students complete the worksheets without using any paper.
- Store – Again, there are quality files here which are very inexpensive! Check out the Sharp Week (Shark week), Keys are a Breeze, and Mega Measures for excellent student reinforcement activities.
I have been following her blog for a few months now and have to agree that it’s excellent!
