Here’s Your Schedule and Final Tips- Holiday Lesson Plan – Item #5

Whew. That was a flurry of posts on the free Holiday Lesson Plan! I think you have more than enough to fill all your lesson time. However, I do think I need to give you one more thing to help make sure this is saving your tons of time and energy.

Holiday Lesson Plan – Item #5 Schedule and Tips

I don’t know if you are a list-maker like me, but on the day of a group lesson, I like to make sure I have a list of all my supplies and also a hard copy of my actual schedule for the lesson. So to make sure your holiday lesson plan is complete, I’ve prepared a final document for you that includes the following:

  • Materials – Exactly what do you need to have ready that day?
  • Schedule – There are 4 in this file: one for a 45 minute lesson, 60 minute lesson, overlapping lessons, and a 50 minute music class
  • Tips – What do you do if a family can’t come? How can you make sure no one insists on a private lesson that week? What about if you have a studio with various religious beliefs regarding the holidays?
  • Copy and Convince – You don’t have time to write that email that explains to parents why this group lesson is important (and why they don’t need to insist on a private lesson), so just copy and paste the text that I have written for you in an email, and send away!
  • Links to what you missed – Think you missed something? It’s all linked in this document.

To get all of this, simply click on the green button you see below. You’ll get 5 pages of help to make this an amazingly fun music class and group party. Be sure to print it right away, or right click and “save as” to your computer.

Let me know if this has been a help. It’s been fun to provide this for you and I do hope that you have benefitted from this series. Tell your friends if you think it’s helpful!

  1. Wendy,
What a gift you’ve given all of us!! I know this was a lot of work, and the resources you share are invaluable (especially the group vs private lesson letter.) I can’t thank you enough for your generosity in sharing your knowledge and professionalism. You’ve definitely made my Holiday Lesson much easier. I hope you and your family enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving this week. Thanks again!!

  2. Thank you Barbara! I’m so glad to know that it’s helpful to you and has made your holiday lesson plan easier. That’s a gift to me…thank you for taking the time to tell me! You have a wonderful Thanksgiving as well!

    Wendy

  3. Wendy- I love all of your materials and posts , but the one you wrote last week about “food” really hit home with me. Like everyone else who follows your posts, I’ve been having holiday parties every year for 20+ years. This year, I was feeling particularly stressed about making cookies for the event because my oldest son, who moved to Seoul, South Korea 2 1/2 years ago, is coming home for Christmas for the first time . “What do you do best, Wendy?” your husband asked you. I asked myself the same question- and I said “Chex Mix”!! Of course we’re doing your games, of course, we’re playing rhythm cups ( filled with Chex Mix on their way home), but my students couldn’t care less about homemade cookies! Thanks for helping me see what’s important ( but, of course, I’ll be making cookies for my son!)

  4. We had group lessons today! I already had them planned somewhat and on the calendar, when I received your emails about holiday group lessons. I used all of your ideas in some capacity, depending on the group, and my students LOVED the rhythm cups! I really enjoyed looking for your next email idea on game ideas, etc., and these helped add some spice and excitement to lessons this round. I’m going to plan longer group lessons the next round, so I can incorporate more of these ideas next time. Please do this again! 🙂 Krista

  5. That’s fantastic to hear Krista! I’m so glad it was a help. Thanks for commenting. Yes, I’d love to do this again. If you have a chance and want to, I’d be delighted if you tell your teaching friends about it. That helps build momentum for whatever the next project happens to be. 😉

How long were your group lessons? It’s amazing how the time flies, isn’t it? Thanks for commenting!
