As teachers we know that certain pieces resonate with certain students but this one will appeal to most students! A young student of mine absolutely loves this piece and is playing all 3 movements from memory in the summer recital. The many fun elements are combined with challenges for their playing / interpretation skills. A real sense of adventure comes through the writing to make it interesting for the listener as well. Thanks for writing this, Wendy!

  2. Norma

This piece is challenging for some of my students, with the LH beginning leaps. I’ve assigned it to three students and they’re loving it and working through it nicely, though! One new student – an amazing 11 y/o with no piano experience until six or so lessons ago – is now working on the first movement and is anxious to play the entire sonatina!

  3. Annette

I have had more than one student use “Escape from Donegal Castle” & “Springs and Sprinkles” and receive blue ribbons because they were able to conquer the repeated patterns and add some dynamics to create a great performance with confidence.
