Operation Tango feels like undercover agents are integrating into the Argentine culture – by dance! With many intriguing patterns, a glissando, and beguiling harmonies, Operation Tango is a piece to whisk you around the world. And it’s part of our series: Around the World.
What level is Operation Tango?
Operation Tango is in A Minor and set in common time. The piece begins with a dramatic glissando in the right hand, and the left hand features a dotted accompaniment pattern that leads into tango-themed melodies and chords for the right hand.
The smallest note value in this piece is the eighth note. Pedal is indicated in only a few measures. There is a brief section with changes between duple meter and common time, during which right hand plays in the bass clef, leading back to the jazzy ending.
All pages are carefully edited with pedagogical fingering and articulations, making this an excellent teaching or recital piece!
Bonus recording included!
Operation Tango comes with a bonus mp3 recording performed by Wendy Stevens. You are permitted to send this example performance track to your students to help them learn the piece.
Plus, a QR code is included on the first page of the PDF (not pictured in the sample) so students can scan the code and it will take them directly to the performance recording of the piece. This can help them be inspired and learn the piece even more effectively without you having to send the mp3 to them!

Davina Spring –
I brought the bundle of these pieces, although I do not have any intermediate students at present, I couldn’t resist getting them so I can play them, handy to have, easy to learn, great to play in concerts.

Spanish music + spy theme = genius! This one stands out in the series (and since it is the hardest of the set, I am having my student learn the other ones first to prepare). What a fun piece!!!!!!
Amanda Maskell –
I love this piece. What a genius move to create a tango with a spy feel. There is a good amount of challenge to stretch students balanced with an exciting soy feel to ignite the imagination and encourage learning it

My adult students love this piece!
