This solo is a confident and dramatic piece that comes alive with the sounds of Spain! With hand-crossing arpeggios, lots of chords, and repeating patterns, kids, teens, and adults will all gravitate towards this enchanting and impressive piano solo.
What level is Olé?
Olé! is in A minor and set in common time. This piece opens with dramatic, and yet accessible chords and chord inversions in both hands. It contains hand-crossing arpeggios, parallel triads, and staccato against legato.
The smallest note value in this piece is the eighth note. There are sections with legato pedaling. Moving around the keyboard is minimal in this piece, except for the hand-over-hand arpeggios and the ending. Fingering and dynamics are clearly marked to make it an exceptional recital or teaching piece.
Bonus recording included!
Olé! comes with a bonus mp3 recording performed by Wendy Stevens. You are permitted to send this example performance track to your students to help them learn the piece.
Plus, a QR code is included on the first page of the PDF (not pictured in the sample) so students can scan the code and it will take them directly to the performance recording of the piece. This can help them be inspired and learn the piece even more effectively without you having to send the mp3 to them!

What a great piece for learning repeated staccato triads/chords plus arpeggios w/ LH crossing over! My 9-yr.-old male student loves it, and will be eagerly working on it this week. So much energy contrasting with the legato arpeggiated chords! Thanks for providing so much “music kids love” that helps keep them interested in piano!

A real attention-grabbing piece that has enabled a 13 yr old boy and 9 yr old girl to go home “waggy tailed” from their first two lessons this term. Thank you Wendy!
