This arrangement of O Come All Ye Faithful is a reflective journey through the Christmas season. There is a soft jazz sound that makes playing emotively feel natural. The B section has some tension, with an almost pedal tone-like quality that reminds us that those who would have been tasked to “come let us adore him” on that first Christmas would have faced obstacles and hardships in order to do so. There is space for tension and beauty alike in those situations, and this arrangement honestly reflects that.

I have one jazz/blues loving student who was delighted with your “O Come All Ye Faithful.” She says you knocked it out of the park! Sounds like she caught the invitation anticipation you were looking for and wanted something distinct from vertically oriented hymn block chords.

I have assigned this to students, but truth be told, I love playing it for myself. The harmonies are inventive and the melodic introduction is mesmerizing. There is also a gorgeous chord build up towards the end which I love.

I can’t get enough of this arrangement, and my intermediate teen boy who is learning it is eager to share it with family and possibly his church. The harmonization is exquisite! Wow, I got goose bumps again just thinking about it!!!!
