Immediate Action Required is composed especially for students who love to play fast and sound impressive! The piece is carefully composed to help students work especially on scale fingering by giving them fast and furious motives that just glide gracefully under the hands. The compound meter may be new to students, but it’s such a natural feeling in this fantastically energetic piece!
What level is Immediate Action Required?
Immediate Action Required is an early intermediate piano solo in A minor. This piece is an easy way to introduce students to the 12/8 time signature as the layout is clean and not crowded and the motives seem perfectly natural and comfortable in this meter. The piece falls under the hands quite easily and fingering is consistently notated to help students be accurate. There is an exciting opportunity in the middle of Immediate Action Required for students to play a tremelo with their left hand, but this can easily be substituted with just the octave.
The smallest note value is the eighth note. Dynamics, articulations and tempo markings are consistent and pedagogically sound. Pedaling only is necessary for a few places and students learn how to “finger pedal” easily in this piece.
