Three measures into Ghost Story, and we already know something’s amiss. The key signature says B minor, but the D# suggests otherwise. It’s an unusual opening, but that’s just how it is in this mysterious tale of unexpected twists and turns. Along the way, pianists will find a variety of familiar scenes – rising scale patterns, light arpeggios hanging in the air, and an exciting B section with a full chordal sound. Then the A section returns, transformed in tone and key, as we’re left to reflect on our suspenseful journey.
What Level is Ghost Story?
Ghost story is a mid intermediate piece in B minor. The B minor key signature and various additional accidentals are used. The piece is written in cut time and the smallest value is the eighth note. Pedaling, dynamics, and helpful fingering are indicated throughout.
Teachers will find Ghost Story by Jason Sifford a good piece to solidify playing arpeggios and finding and executing chord inversions.

Great piece for students that have mastered the Alberti Bass. The spooky melody combined with the syncopated chords in the B section make this is a great Halloween piece.
Rachel –
Such a satisfying piece with a cinematic feel and very accessible for a late intermediate student.
