Exploring Beautiful Places is a late elementary piano series that comes after the In Beautiful Places elementary series. This series of beautifully mature piano solos are especially enjoyed by pre-teen, teen, and adult piano students. The music allows students to explore and become proficient in eighth notes with more nuanced music than is typically in method books. Plus, this music has all the elements of solid pedagogical material – fingering, dynamics, phrasing, articulations, and well-developed musical motives.

I bought the entire set recently and have been using it with my adult students. They all love the pieces! While I don’t usually print the cover pages for my digital music, I do with these as they so aptly describe the mood of the pieces. The patterns are challenging enough to make the pieces interesting but well defined and logical, allowing students to learn the pieces quickly. They are great teaching pieces as they have elements that really make students pay attention, such as putting both hands in the bass clef in Mid-Air Meditation. I’ve gone through the entire set with a few students and would love to see even more of these pieces in the future!
