This easy Be Thou My Vision piano arrangement is very satisfying for elementary level piano students of all ages. The arrangement has a mature sound but is easy to play. It explores many of the registers of the piano, but in ways that are easy for elementary piano students to manage.
Most elementary piano students want to play mature sounding arrangements at church and for their own enjoyment. Yet, too often, easy hymn books only contain melodies with primary chords. But this arrangement’s sophistication will be appreciated for its interesting harmonies and modern sound.
The Level of this easy Be Thou My Vision
This easy Be Thou My Vision is mid-elementary level. A few eighth notes are included, but these are easily managed since they are part of the melody. Eighth notes are also used in a simple motive in the introduction and ending that can easily be taught by rote.
This arrangement uses the damper pedal, but it only needs to be lifted four times. So it is very fluid and mature sounding without a lot of effort in pedaling.
Fingering, dynamics, and articulation are included in this piece, making it a valuable teaching piece.
