Description

This discounted bundle contains Scooch on Over and Meanwhile and gives you two very contrasting piano solos. Scooch on Over will have you and your audience tappin’ and boppin’ your head. Then Meanwhile will have everyone relaxed in their seat and feeling like they are floating down a beautiful river. Both pieces will be a refreshing change from predictable music.

Level of this bundle

Scooch on Over is a late intermediate piece primarily because of the chromatic passages and the left hand movement. The music is carefully notated and fingered though, to make chromatic passages easier. This piece is an especially easy ragtime piece for a pianist with small hands. The key is C Major throughout.

Meanwhile is mid intermediate with even easier passages as well. This piece falls easily under the hands and on the ears, but contains lovely harmonic surprises. The piece is in compound time and the smallest note value is the eighth note.

Thoughts from the Composer on the ragtime piece…

I have great respect for the musicians who made ragtime come alive. But it’s just never been my favorite style of music. So I decided to challenge myself to write a rag that I liked and could really enjoy playing. I also have very small hands, so traditional rags that have long passages of right hand octaves are never enjoyable for me and often make my hand hurt. I wanted to write a rag that I could not only enjoy the sound of, but I could also play with joy instead of pain.

Scooch on Over is the result and I love it! I hope you do too.
