MTNA Publishes e-Journal

ejournal4MTNA has published their first edition of the MTNA e-Journal.  As a complement to their current magazine, the American Music Teacher, the MTNA e-Journal provides a peer-reviewed journal featuring more extensive, in-depth articles.  MTNA states,

This new format will be especially of interest to those in academia wishing to write on topics of a more scholarly, research-oriented nature. In addition, the online publication format creates opportunities for authors to enhance their articles through the use of sound, image and video links.

I have read bit of the e-Journal and find it even more useful that the AMT given the videos that can be played directly on the e-Journal page.  The first journal article is by Julie Knerr, a colleague of mine with whom I have composed pieces for her new method, Piano Safari.  It is a great article about piano technique for beginning students and showcases a number of helpful videos demonstrating her approach to teaching technique.

Articles in this edition include:

  • Foundational Concepts of Technique for Beginning Piano Students
  • Watching Learners Learn
  • Discovering Unstable Equilibrium: Sending a New Movement Paradigm in Our Bodies to Empower our Playing Hands
  • Technology, the Internet, the Law and You: Knowing Your Rights When Your Studio Extends Beyond its Four Walls
