The other day a dear teacher, who has been following my site for a long time, ask me about a list of classical music I used to have on my site. I vaguely remembered such a list, but when I looked on my old computer, I found that it was a list from earlier than 2008! It has not been on the website for some time, so I went ahead and re-posted. The purpose of the list was mainly to encourage my students to listen to some of the great classical pieces and I thought it would be fun to list them by mood:
- Relaxing
- Exciting
- Majestic
- Entertaining
Here is the Great Classical Music for Listening page. It is located in the Ear Training section of the Teacher page which also includes “CD Listening Forms” that I used to have students fill out when they listened to a piece of music. Wow, so much has changed in 5 years! Using the word CD to refer to music that my students will listen to is entirely out of date!
At any rate, perhaps this will be helpful to you as you help your students and their families listen to great music.
