Easy Recipes – Crockpot Lasagna

Many of you have written to say that you love the “Easy Recipes for Busy Piano Teachers” series and need some more recipes! Well, I do too and have tried out numerous ones in the last 6 months. Most of them were just “eh,” so that doesn’t make the cut of a “delicious, wholesome, but quick recipe.” But I have found a few more, so add these to your bookmarks and get the crock pot out!

Crockpot Lasagna

Maybe you’ve all tried this before, but I was astounded at how great this turned out! Seriously? I can cook a wonderful lasagna 4 hours ahead of time without cooking the noodles first or heating up the oven? Yep!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. Italian sausage (or hamburger)
  • 1 24 oz jar or can of spaghetti sauce
  • 1 C. water
  • Lasagna noodles – uncooked (I’ve used whole wheat and they are great too.)
  • 1 container ricotta cheese
  • 1 C. mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg
  • Italian seasonings (basil, oregano, garlic powder)

Uncooked Crock Pot Lasagna1. Cook the sausage or hamburger completely. Add spaghetti sauce and water.

2. Combine both cheeses, Italian seasonings, and egg together in a bowl.

3. Layer. Spoon enough of this mixture to cover the bottom of your crockpot. Then, add your first layer of noodles. They won’t fit perfectly, but just break them apart and piece them together to cover the sauce. Add 1/3 of the cheese mixture. Add 1/3 of the meat mixture. Then do the same 3 layers again 2 times until you have meat sauce on top. Top the last meat sauce with the remaining mozzarella cheese.

4. Cook on low for 3.5 – 4 hours.

  1. Just noticed the section of “recipes for the busy piano teacher. Neat! I wanted to offer a mini-recipe in that I use often: Hamburger Salad. I made it up, and it sounds weird, but it’s actually quite delicious. 1) Make hamburger patties and cook ’em. 2) Put washed salad on each plate (I use spinach). 3) Break up 1 cooked hamburger patty into chunks and scatter on salad. 4) add cut tomatoes, onions, pickles if you like. 5) in a spiral shape, squirt mustard and ketchup and then top with a dollop of mayo in the center. Voila! Fast, easy, fun….yum.

  2. This recipe is easy and delicious. I prep it and plug in just as I’m heading out for 3 hours to teach. When I come home, the house smells delicious and all I do is grab a plate and serve. Thank you!
