Pick Your Favorites is a set of three, one-page piano songs about kids’ favorites. Each piece asks the students to weigh in some way about their favorite color, flavor, or octave. One piece even allows the student to surprise the teacher and their listeners at the end.

What Level is Pick Your Favorites?
The three pieces in Pick Your Favorites are mid elementary. They are all in C position. There are no sharps, flats, or naturals. The pieces do not have hands together playing with the exception of 2 pieces which have it in only one measure at the end. There is no pedaling required.

Favorite Flavor and The Best Color: My students really liked these words and sharing what their favorites were with me. Having the new rhythm be the same in every measure is helpful and my students felt successful even when sight reading through the piece for the first time.
Octave options: This piece is great for helping students move around the keyboard. I try and guess which ending they will pick. I have them play the piece again until I guess right (especially if they need more practice). They have a lot of fun and don’t seem to mind that I have them play it again.
