Price range: $45.00 through $350.00

Do you ever worry you’re getting left behind? That technology is being forced on you? That something bad might be happening to humans in this AI craze, but that you don’t know how to stop it?

Do you ever wonder if we’re neglecting to care for the most important parts of what make us human? What makes us essential teachers? That we might slowly forget how to flourish? How to connect? How to create? That we might not even notice subtle declines? That Ai is going to slowly dumb us down and diminish the beautiful things that make us human?

In this workshop, we’ll dive deep into what AI really is, what it’s good and bad for, and how to use it in a healthy way as a music teacher. But we’ll take an even deeper dive into what makes us beautifully human and how to thrive in our technologically-obsessed world. We’ll talk about research-based ways to stay sharp, improve our creative abilities, and keep our essential skills from atrophying.

But ultimately, you’ll learn what makes us uniquely human – features that Ai and technology threaten – and what you can do to flourish.

Will there be a replay if I can’t make it live?

Yes, anyone who purchases the “Have You Forgotten What It’s Like to be Human? Flourishing in the Age of AI” workshop will receive a replay link as soon as the replay is ready. Replay access does have an expiration date though, as we want teachers to be motivated to watch and apply it! The replay will be guaranteed up to 3 months after the air date.

The replay for this workshop will allow you to start and stop at any point in the video. So if you need to digest it in small portions, this will be easy for you to do.

When will I get my confirmation and link to join the workshop?

After purchase, we will manually add you to this private workshop, so please allow some time for us to send you your private link (if you register at the last minute – please check for your link email regularly as we will make sure everyone has a link right before the workshop). You will get a receipt for your purchase right away, but that will not have your link to join the workshop in it. But rest assured that we will get you added and you’ll receive that confirmation link to know what to click when it’s time to join the live Weird to Wonderful workshop.

Can more than one teacher watch this with my purchase?

No. This workshop is only for the teacher who purchased it. Other teachers can join separately by purchasing the workshop themselves. However a single purchase does allow the workshop to be viewed by members of a household who live in the same house.

Is this just for piano or music teachers?

No, definitely not. This is open and applicable to any human who wants to flourish in the age of AI. While we might make some specific applications to piano and music teachers, a majority of the content is applicable to any human.

Why is there an expiration date for the replay?

We want to keep the price of this online, intensive, and we-don’t-waste-any-of-your-time workshops as low as possible. But we also want them to be as high quality as possible, so we pay for monthly access to a top-notch video hosting site. We would have to charge more if we knew that we had to pay for this hosting service for the rest of our lives!
We want you to learn and implement these things as soon as possible for best results. Therefore, watching it as soon as possible, but having 2 months of access gives a lot of opportunity to re-watch…which is much better than a live event.
In addition, information changes. We don’t want you to be watching this workshop 2 years from now if the information is irrelevant or no longer useful.

Can you help me with the time zone conversion?

Yes! After your purchase of “Have You Forgotten What It’s Like to be Human? Flourishing in the Age of AI,” we will  register you with your time zone based on the address you give when checking out (so make sure this is accurate). But I’m sure you want to know if it’s even possible to attend the live portion before you purchase this. So…

An easy time zone converter is Dateful.com. You do need to know exactly what time zone you are in, but if you know that, then just insert 12:00 p.m. Central time in the first box and then choose your time zone by typing in the second box. There are many other time zone converters on the internet including this one if you want to double check yourself. Just make sure you know what your time zone is. We will be giving the workshop at 12:00 p.m. (noon) Central Time.

A fascinating workshop jammed full of not only interesting but important information in this AI world we are living in. Wendy has definitely done a significant amount of research into this subject. The recording and additional information such as useful links will definitely be most useful and necessary. I tried filling in the worksheet during the talk and found it difficult to keep up even though I write extremely fast! I found when writing in the information, I was not taking in enough. It was all too fast. I think the workshop should have been split into two sessions going at a slower pace. I would DEFINITELY recommend others, who did not attend live this workshop to buy the recording. I will probably have to watch the recording several times to get the most out of it. Others will probably be able to watch it once – I am a very slow learner!

Wendy was very well prepared for this workshop! It was obvious that she had done a lot of research and she presented it in a very professional manner. There were no “hiccups” in the presentation, and the handout was helpful. I always love the webinars that Wendy does, and I learned a lot from this one!

Wendy is always prepared and organized. I learned a great deal about the history of AI and how to think about it differently. Also so many practical applications today! Highly recommended!

Wendy’s thoroughness, passion and sincerity shone through in this webinar (and any webinar she offers!) I feel confident and optimistic moving forward that we are ALL going to be ok in this world of A.I. She is a true gift to any teacher who wants to excel in their craft and encourage students to shine in their musical journey.) Thank you Wendy!

This workshop was very helpful to me as I knew next to nothing about AI and was half scared to death just thinking about it. But now I feel like I’m ok and I appreciated the positive comments and helps Wendy gave to we piano teachers who have wondered if AI would put us out of our jobs! There is no substitute for human one-on-one, caring teachers!!! I highly recommend this workshop, it was a blessing to me!

This session clarifies both what AI is and what AI is not. Wendy presents the historical context of AI’s development along with a wide array of current data and input from various thinkers. Cautions are balanced with practical uses. There is much food for thought along with suggestions for practical action, encouraging us in the mission to serve our students.

Well worth the time spent !!! Lots of notes taken! Plan to recommend this workshop to others! Thank you for the time and effort taken to prepare and present this workshop about a topic that at the moment seems very daunting.

Thank you to Wendy for all the research and thought that went into this session. I appreciated the handout to have something to take away and continue to think about. Very well presented in an orderly manner. Good information about AI in layman’s terms. Also really appreciate the bibliography found in the notes. Thank you for this!

Wendy’s presentation was very well done, with excellent points. I have been on the fence for a while about AI myself, but the ways that I have used it for research have been very positive, so as of now, I am willing to work with it, until it proves to be detrimental.

Excellent workshop and so relevant to the times we live in. It was reassuring to hear Wendy voice my concerns about the fast pace of technological change but also, as the title of the workshop states, how to thrive in this changing world and value being human and making connections with others. Thank you Wendy. Would definitely recommend.

Another great workshop by Wendy Stevens! You can tell right from the beginning that she cares about teachers and piano students. This workshop did have several practical tips for piano teachers, but mostly it was about being human. I appreciate that Wendy did not tell anyone what to do or not do, but gave us her research and recommendations and lets us make our own decisions. She says at the end that it’s her hope that if we choose to use AI (which is ok!) that we can do so more responsibly now that we understand the information in this webinar. I think that is very true of me.

I do appreciate that I watched the replay, and was able to pause and come back, since this was a lot of information. I wouldn’t have wanted to skip any of it, but I appreciated not getting it all in one shot.

Thank you again Wendy, for researching and presenting this important topic.

This workshop helped me so much to better understand AI and its implications. And yes, it moved quickly and I couldn’t completely fill in my sheet, BUT Wendy gave us access to the filled-in sheet, so not a problem. Everyone, teacher or not, can benefit from this workshop. As always, Wendy did a top-notch job, and I so appreciate her hard work and willingness to share.

SPOT ON!!! This was thought provoking, helpful in ways to think about AI—which few are even discussing. This is the important step that we (as humans) need to approach technology of ANY kind, first. Then we can avoid dangerous, sometimes irreversible damage than can occur when something is embraced WITHOUT discerning, challenging thought. I loved simple pointers like why travel and reading fiction brings humans the chance to flourish and grow. AND, thanks for even simple principles: Need to write something? Write it yourself FIRST; then decide to have technological help. Even HOW we speak about chat bots….they don’t recommend, they source algorithms and give suggestion based on data and numbers.

I’m so thankful for the 3 month window y’all give for this replay! I signed up for the live webinar, but because life is busy it took me two months before I finally watched it! I have been uneasy about social media for a while now, and it was good to hear some data on it. I would definitely recommend this webinar to others so we as HUMANS can be more aware about what’s happening and how to respond 🙂

Wendy’s thoroughly-researched and well-presented webinar is extremely helpful and insightful on many levels. Four of my colleagues and I watched the recorded webinar together, and we were all grateful to have spent the time and money to do so. We highly recommend it!

Before watching this I had a very poor grasp of what exactly AI is and where it comes from. I had, however, felt the pressure to use it, both from other piano sites and from the general uptake in my community. Wendy’s webinar was most enlightening – particularly in explaining how ChatGPT is basically a supercharged form of predictive text, rather than a reasoning mind. We were horrified to hear of the abuses of privacy, harm to the environment and exploitation of workers that went into setting this up, and as a family we are now firmly against using AI and more strongly in favour of ‘being human’ however we can. Thank you Wendy for all the work you put into your research.

I took the ‘Have You Forgotten What it’s Like to Be Human?’ course. It was very insightful and helpful in understanding what A.I. is and is not, who is behind A.I., and what A.I. and social media does with your posts and information. There was also a good amount of research that Wendy presented on staying connected with others, and how doing things with others benefits everyone. Finally, it was a great reminder to hear how creating things (such as stories and music) and creating experiences and memories with others is so powerful. I highly recommend this course!
