Rhythm Manipulations is the second book in the Reproducible Rhythm Explorations series. Rhythm Manipulations is designed to appeal to more mature students such as pre-teens and teens as it explores more advanced rhythmic concepts. Each unit showcases original contemporary art which visually represents the rhythmic concept in the unit. The older student will enjoy rhythmic activities that are appropriate to their age and interests as well exploring how the artwork and rhythm concept relate.
As with Rhythm Menagerie, the first book in the series, Rhythm Manipulations is designed to take away distractions like note reading so that students can focus on learning new rhythms. This 82 page PDF resource is designed to continue the comprehensive approach to teaching and practicing rhythm and can be used alongside any method. It is designed to be used in private lessons or the classroom and can easily be adapted to group lessons.

Here are teachers say about Rhythm Manipulations:
I love these! Each set meets a need for fun and rhythm. Seriously. They’re great.
My intermediate level students don’t like to count out loud but with Rhythm Manipulations, they learn how to count to get it right. Rhythm Manipulations has been a great value and fun for students to use with many positives benefits for my students!
Several of my students are now past the level of Rhythm Menagerie, and were bummed to go back to “boring” rhythm drills. They’ll be happy to see Rhythm Manipulations is avaiable!
Thank you so much for your years of work on “Rhythm Menagerie” and “Rhythm Manipulations”. They have greatly enhanced my studio. The students are really enjoying them. Your creativity is amazing!
This is really a huge learning tool and lots of fun! EVERY elementary school should have this as a precursor to their band programs.
How can I use Rhythm Manipualtions?
Rhythm Manipulations comes with a studio license, so when you purchase Rhythm Manipulations, you are permitted to print it for use with students you directly teach for as long as you are teaching! This license cannot be shared with or transferred other teachers, even within the same studio. See terms and conditions for full information.
~ Thank you for complying with U. S. copyright laws!
Why is there an International vs. North American edition of Rhythm Manipulations?
If you use rhythm terms like sixteenth note, dotted eighth, etc., you will want to purchase the North American version.
If you use rhythm terms like semiquaver, dotted quaver, etc., you will want to purchase the International version. This is the only difference (besides the use of the word “bar” for “measure) between the North American and International Edition.
Can I use Rhythm Manipulations in the classroom? With an instrument besides piano?
Unlike the first book in the series Rhythm Menagerie (in which there are classroom and piano editions), we purposely designed Rhythm Manipulations to work for private, group, and classroom instruction! There are no directions given that are specific to the piano, so any wind, string, or vocal students can use this resource as well.
