The cascade of snowflakes from the sky is a sight to behold. Time pauses as you watch the delicate snowflakes float down from the sky, and the movement of snow flurries that have a life of their own. But on the first snow, those first flakes give themselves to the warm ground. This sensitive piece is a beautiful soundtrack to this gentle drama.
What level is The First Snow?
The First Snow is an early intermediate/mid-intermediate piece written in common time, and set in D Major. The smallest note value is a sixteenth note grouped in four’s. This simple grouping makes this piece a good introduction for sixteenths. The largest interval is a sixth. There are cluster chords with 3 notes throughout, and three 4-note chords. Solid pedagogical dynamics and articulations are indicated. Legato pedaling is indicated throughout.
Bonus recordings included!
The First Snow includes a bonus mp3 of this performance with your purchase. You may send this mp3 to your student to help them learn the piece and remember how it sounds.
Plus, a QR code is included on the first page of the PDF (not pictured in the sample) so students can scan the code and it will take them directly to the performance recording of the piece. This can help them be inspired and learn the piece even more effectively without you having to send the mp3 to them! As with all our music, the beautiful cover is also included!
