Hosanna Loud Hosanna is a jubilant and celebratory solo that perfectly expresses the joy of Palm and Easter Sunday! Instead of the typical Western sound, it is written in a way that allows the pianist and audience to more easily imagine the events happening in Jerusalem. With fun rhythmic and dynamic changes throughout the piece, Hosanna Loud Hosanna will be an Easter season favorite.
The Level of Hosanna Loud Hosanna:
This arrangement is a late intermediate piece. The smallest note value is a sixteenth note. While mainly in 4/4, the piece does dance back and forth from 5/4 to 4/4 a few times.
Key signatures are written in, beginning with C Major and ending in d minor. There are several accidentals throughout the piece. Fingerings are written in sparingly in order to help with some of the more challenging areas. While a late intermediate piece (mostly because of the tempo and finger facility), it still fits well under small hands.
Also Know as I Sing the Mighty Power of God
“Ellecombe” is the name of this tune and it is used for many hymns. One particular one that Wendy grew up with is “I Sing the Mighty Power of God.” So she has included a cover and arrangement with that as the title as well. It’s the same arrangement, just a different title.

I personally can’t get enough of your Hosanna arrangement…it’s brilliant!! My husband really enjoys this also!

I like how you can take the theme that we know and change it to make it more interesting. Especially in this Hosanna, when you change to a minor key when we think about the upcoming events of holy week.
Lori –
I purchased the Near the Cross and Hosanna Loud Hosanna pieces this year. They were such a blessing to my church when I played them! The song leader commented that Hosanna was such a powerful set. Thank you for creating such beautiful arrangements.

This is a delightful and powerful piece – Wendy arranged it beautifully! I love the energy and joy expressed in bring this hymn to life in a new way. I have enjoyed playing it myself, as well as teaching it to intermediate students. Also a great tool for teaching 5/4 time signature!

I loved the syncopation and the scales in this piece, and the unexpected meter changes! Fun!

Creative version of Hosanna Loud Hosanna. The syncopated middle section might be a little too “new” for our conservative congregation at church, but they’re going to hear it on Palm Sunday. Particularly love the way you let the melody shine through.

I purchased this specifically for a middle-school boy to use for our upcoming sacred music festival. He wants big, impressive-sounding pieces that don’t sound “old-fashioned”. He is really enjoying learning this piece and I love the inclusion of irregular meter to stretch him out of his comfort zone a bit! You’ve walked the fine line between making the vibe sound current and fun while keeping the integrity and “soul” of this hymn intact.
