There is a mystery and solemnity that tends to surround elves in fantasy books or movies. Maybe it’s their immortal nature, or their wisdom. Whatever it is, Elves Immortal captures that mystery and adventure with a mature sound that elementary level students will love to perform. Thanks to shifting registers and the use of pedal, the sense of intrigue and wonder will especially captivate those students who love fantasy and fairy tales.

Level of Elves Immortal

Elves Immortal is a late elementary piece written in D lydian. The accidentals are written in, rather than a key signature being given. There are also accidentals outside of the D lydian mode sprinkled through several measures. The smallest note value is a quarter note. Multiple registers are explored, which is what gives the piece its somewhat ethereal and imaginative quality. Pedaling is indicated throughout the entire piece, and held for long sections, making it attainable for students at this level. 

The hand position in Elves Immortal stays the same for a majority of the piece, and a slight shift of position in the right hand is indicated with circled finger numbers so that students are given a visual cue for position changes. Both hands play treble clef for the last two measures only. The left hand uses mainly fourths throughout the piece, along with thirds and seconds. This intervallic practice in the LH allows students to focus on the RH and pedaling. Helpful fingerings are included, as are lyrics about these mysterious creatures.

Elves Immortal comes with a studio license which licenses the purchasing teacher to print as many copies as needed for any student they directly teach. So it is like getting an unlimited supply of this Music Kids Love® for yourself and your students. The studio license is not a multi-teacher license, so it can only be used by one teacher. However, the music and bonus can be used by as many students as the purchasing teacher directly instructs on a regular basis.
