Enharmonics

On a separate sheet of paper, write down 2 possible enharmonic spellings of the following notes:

1. C
2. E
3. F#
4. B
5. G
**Don’t forget you can use double sharps (x) or double flats (bb).

Major Key Signatures

Play Key Trainer 1 for 5 minutes.
(Key Trainer 1 uses up to 5 accidentals)
Record your score.

Play Key Trainer 2 for 5 minutes.
(Key Trainer 2 uses all accidentals)
Record your score.

OR

Play Major Key Signatures
Keys: Major
Accidentals: Sharps and Flats
Stop exercise after: 5 minutes
Clef: Bass (switch to treble the next time you play)

Record your score (percentage).

Minor Key Signatures

Go to Key Trainer 1 – Minor
(Key Trainer 1 uses up to 5 accidentals)
Record your score.

Go to Key Trainer 2 – Minor
(Key Trainer 1 uses all accidentals)
Record your score.

Play Minor Key Signatures
Keys: Minor
Do not check the box that says “limit key signatures to 4 accidentals”
Accidentals: Sharps and Flats
Stop exercise after: 5 minutes
Clef: Bass (switch to treble the next time you play)

Identify Intervals by Ear

Major/Minor/Perfect Intervals Ascending

Go to Interval Ear Training.
You may play each interval up to 3 times each.
Record your score. Make a note of the intervals you answer incorrectly.

OR

Go to Teoria Interval Ear Trainer.
Under Intervals, make sure every interval is checked except the “Augments 4th, Diminished 5th.”
Type: Melodic
Direction: Ascending
Answer Using: Interval Name
If my answer is not correct: Retry
Stop exercise after: 5 minutes
Clef: Either

Record your score (percentage) in your Web Rewards page.  If you do not score better than 90%, play it again, choosing a smaller number of intervals.  For example, if you know you are having trouble with M2, m2, M3, m3, and M6, then just check those the 2nd time you play.

Perfect Intervals Ascending and Descending

For this level, you have to be able to identify P4, P5, and P8 ascending or descending.
Go to Interval Ear Trainer-Perfect Intervals 
Record your score.  Make a note of the intervals you answer incorrectly.

Build Major, Minor, Perfect Intervals on Staff

Go to Teoria Interval Construction.
Make sure all the Major, minor and perfect intervals are checked
Make sure Sharps and Flats are checked
Do this exercise for 5 minutes a record your score.  Try to indicate which intervals you are having the most trouble with.

Identify Major, Minor, Perfect Intervals on Staff

Go to Interval Trainer.
Play for 5 minutes and record your percentage on the Web Rewards page.
If you did not get 90% or better, do it for another 5 minutes.  If you need help, refer to your “Interval Shortcut” sheet in your piano notebook.

Writing Triads on Staff  (Major, minor, diminished, Augmented)

Go to Teoria Triad Construction.
Triads: Major, Minor, Diminished, Augmented
Inversions: Root position
Accidentals: Sharps and Flats
Stop exercise after: 5 minutes
Clef: Either
Record your score.
Use these tips to help:
Major triad has a PERFECT 5th and MAJOR 3rd
Minor triad has a PERFECT 5th and MINOR 3rd
Diminished triad has a DIMINISHED 5th and MINOR 3rd
Augmented triad has an AUGMENTED 5th and a MAJOR 3rd
