Major Key Signatures

Play Key Trainer 1 for 5 minutes.

Minor Key Signatures

Go to Key Trainer 1 – Minor
(Key Trainer 1 uses up to 5 accidentals)

(Key Trainer 1 uses all accidentals)

Play Minor Key Signatures
Keys: Minor
Do not check the box that says “limit key signatures to 4 accidentals”
Accidentals: Sharps and Flats
Stop exercise after: 5 minutes
Clef: Bass (switch to treble the next time you play)

Record your score (percentage) on the Web Rewards page.

Building Key Signatures

Go to Key Signatures – Construction.
Choose Major keys.
Uncheck the “limit key signature to 4 accidentals” unless you want to try an easy version first.
Stop exercise after: 5 minutes
Clef: Bass clef, then treble the 2nd time

Record your score.

Enharmonics

On a separate sheet of paper, give 2 possible enharmonic spellings for these notes:
C
E
Gb
B
F
Here is what you need to know to complete this exercise:
1.  You can use double sharps and double flats if necessary.
2.  Enharmonic means that it is the same note, but it has a different name.  So two enharmonics for D would be Cx (Double sharp is an x) and Ebb (double flat).

Intervals by Sight

Go to Interval Trainer (unless I have told you to customize the intervals…If you need to customize, see below)
Record your score.

Go to Interval Trainer – Customize
Choose:  Interval Identification
Customize: Yes
Clef: Choose Treble and Bass
What range: Choose the 2nd option
Key Signature: Uncheck all
What intervals: M2, M3, P4, P5, M6, M7, P8…m2, m3, m6, m7 (Unless I have told you what intervals to choose in your assignment journal)
What difficulty: Level 2
Start Exercise
Record your score

Intervals by Ear

Go to Teoria Interval Ear Trainer.
Under Intervals, make sure every interval is checked except the “Augments 4th, Diminished 5th.”
Type: Melodic
Direction: Ascending
Answer Using: Interval Name
If my answer is not correct: Retry
Stop exercise after: 5 minutes
Clef: Either

Record your score (percentage) in your Web Rewards page.  If you do not score better than 90%, play it again, choosing a smaller number of intervals.  For example, if you know you are having trouble with M2, m2, M3, m3, and M6, then just check those the 2nd time you play.

OR

Go to Interval Ear Trainer.
Record your score.

Intervals – Building

Go to Teoria Interval Construction.
Intervals: Choose all minor, Major, and Perfect intervals
Accidentals: Sharps and flats
Direction: Ascending
Other options: Stop exercise after 5 minutes
Clef: Choose treble or bass
Play for 5 minutes and record your score.  If you do not get 90% or more, plan on playing it again.

Complete and bring to your lesson.

Scales by Ear

Go to Scale Ear Training
Play this for 3 minutes and record your score.

Go to Teoria Scale Identification.
Scales: Major and minor  (This will drill Major, natural minor, harmonic minor, and melodic minor…all of which you have to know.)
Tempo: Medium
Stop exercise after: 5 minutes
OK
Record your score (percentage) on the Web Rewards page.  If you do not score 90% or more, play it again.
