These arrangements of Jingle Bells and Deck the Hall are some of the most popular on the ComposeCreate site for several reasons:
- This arrangements of Deck the Hall and Jingle Bells make elementary students sound more advanced.
- These arrangements have glissandos in them. Every student likes glissando if you do them pain-free with an index card!
- They are peppy, perky, and downright fun!
- They are easy to play
Yes, this is why many teachers have told us that their students want to keep playing these pieces over and over again, even after Christmas!
But they are pedagogically sound too!
But these aren’t just fun pieces that make kids sound better than they are, they are pedagogically sound. Careful attention has been given to make these pieces perfect for teaching:
- Staccato
- Balance between the hands
- Coordination
- Use of the entire keyboard
- Rhythm continuity

I have a few students who simply cannot let go of your “Jingle Bells” even after Christmas–they enjoy it so much (and one of them is a doctor). And it’s so fun, I look forward to hearing it every time.

My older beginners absolutely love these pieces. They are so happy to play something that sounds more impressive and “bigger”.

Buy these songs!! They are so much fun for students to learn, and the format of the songs where it repeats the same phrase in different octaves makes them easy for students to learn in a short amount of time ( because who wants to be practicing Christmas songs in February or July) the students have a fun time learning to do a glissando, and please use Wendy’s tips on using an index card. Audiences and grandparents everywhere will love listening to their children play these songs

Wow! The Jingle Bells intro is fantastic. I have a young student wanting to play Jingle Bells for the THIRD year in a row and this arrangement was perfect for her to get what she wants while also progressing forward. I love the (very doable) mixed meter!
