I absolutely love this piece and all of the other pieces in the Beautiful Places series, and so do my students! These pieces have mass appeal to students of all ages, from beginning level to early elementary piano students, male or female. Both my 50-year-old student and my 7-year-old student love them equally. One reason these pieces are so loved is because they sound mature and range all over the piano, which gives the student confidence and pride. While there is movement all over the piano, there are repeating patterns that make these easy to teach by rote or easy to learn once the pattern is understood. These are great pieces for teaching students how to recognize patterns in music. These pieces also offer students the opportunity to be musically expressive and to experiment with tone, color, and dynamics. This is not something that is found in most beginning music, and so my students get so excited about these pieces that they can’t stop playing them, often at the expense of their other music! I am about to start handing out new Beautiful Spaces pieces to them as rewards. That’s how much my students love them!
