The first student I had learns and perform this piece was a young boy who also happened to be a member of my church. He liked the name of it but said he didn’t know the song. After I had him sight read the refrain, his face lit up and he said, “Oh, I remember this one! It’s that rejoice one!” He played it for our recital that year and absolutely nailed it. I have had several students play it since then. Parents love it so much they check out the program to see if it is being played again; one year I had a mother tell me she was disappointed not to hear it that year. If you want to teach a classic piece to your beginners, this one is perfect.

Wendy’s arrangements are creatively written so that if you are familiar with the melody, it’s just a bit different to spark your interest. Some fall nicely under their little fingers or others leap the keyboard making it a challenge and fun for them to play. I experience students digging right in and learning their solo’s quickly because the arrangements are so motivating. I can’t wait to hear their performances at our winter recital. My parents love you pieces too. I’m so grateful Wendy for your talent!!
